  1. Monti Sartorius

Monti Sartorius, the eruptive "buttonhole" originating during the eruption of 1865. The secondary cones still appear completely bare, with the exception of a few and sparse specimens of birch and larch pine, whose bearing is shaped by the strong prevailing winds from the north-west. Going around the base of the cones from the west side, it will be possible to observe the field of eruptive fractures associated with the craters of 1865, and reaching the base of the first cone, numerous "volcanic bombs" of considerable size will be visible.

  2. Mount Etna

The trekking tour continues in the direction of Piano delle Donne to admire an important testimony of the life and past of the Etna volcano: the Grotta dei Ladroni or Grotta della Neve. The Grotta dei Ladroni located at 1540 meters is a perfect example of a lava flow tunnel (lava tube). Legend has it that in the second half of the 18th century the cave was used as a refuge by a band of brigands who raged in the area. Easy to reach and visit, the lava cave is located near an Etna birch forest, in an area characterized by a prehistoric lava flow, within the municipality of Sant'Alfio (Catania). With its large rooms, the small staircase carved into the rock, the two different entrances and the three wells dug by man, Grotta dei Ladroni is one of the most particular caves on Etna. To visit it, all you need is a torch and a protective helmet, which will be provided to you free of charge.

+

How far in advance should I book Etna at dawn Private Guided Tour?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Catania can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?

+

What are the best things to do in Catania?

+

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Catania?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Catania?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
