    Unforgettable

The Estrella Damm brewery tour is an experience like no other. It begins auspiciously, as the group of brewery pilgrims start to mingle on the street outside waiting for the elaborate gates to open - a modern day Wonka Factory. But it’s done in such a low-key and underground way that it’s impossible to tell whether they’re even open or have actually turned up at work today and bothered to prepare a tour at all. A theme which very much continues from here on out. While the boiler room looks very much the part, with gleaming copper and pressure gauges abundant, the tour does take a rather sudden and unexpected turn almost immediately. After being shown the toilets and then informed in no uncertain terms that you will have to wait until later as you’re only allowed to use a different set - you’re then led out the fire escape, around past the bins, to finally arrive at your destination - the staff car park. The phrase “catfished by a brewery” was not one which you were expecting to think about today - but, nevertheless, it certainly now cannot be ignored. You move on to an outbuilding where you learn that the brewery does have a veritable treasure trove of vintage branding and art, historical bottles and taps, and retro furniture and office equipment. Unfortunately, it’s currently being stored in a warehouse behind thick plastic sheeting - which, while largely translucent, does make the viewer work for it. We understand this is a temporary measure until a new display place is built in 2026 - which was reassuring to learn on our visit in early 2025. And thankful that this should give the tour historians time to discover the identity of the man who dominates the photo in the central wall sized main display - who is a complete mystery man, apparently unrelated to the Damm brewing family - despite clearly being a Don and definitely in charge. That’s been a real cliffhanger for our group so looking forward to seeing that resolved for future visitors. But this is where the tour experience really does come alive; and, after an obligatory second visit to the car park, you’re led up to a terrace with a well prepared space for the beer tasting. A very high quality beer tasting with individually designed glasses and tasting notes for the phenomenal selection of high strength beers. And, in scenes rarely observed at brewery tours across Europe - an incredibly generous volume (5 bottles between 2 people). In conclusion, it really is a unique and quite unforgettable experience, with a strong finish that successfully does a fair bit of the heavy lifting. For those coming post 2026, I’m sure you’ll be in for a real treat. And to be absolutely fair to the wonderful employees at Damm - given the access they have to such volume of high strength beers, and with such generosity of spirit, it’s really no wonder they’ve not yet managed to identify one of the most important people in their historical archive. My personal guess? He’s the guy who built the car park.

    No time for the tasting.

Overall the visit to the factory was fine, a bit long because of that, as then there was little time left for the tasting. The timing of the tasting was abysmal. They give you a taste of 5 beers (1 every 2 people) and take them all out at once, so you drink them hot. On the other hand, they don’t give you anything to sting and they hurry you, since at 21 they closed. It didn't give us time to enjoy the beer, and that was only half a glass of each... We had to leave them there, as they kicked us out because it was time (we were not even 20 minutes). I wouldn't recommend it.

    A must do

This was plenty of fun and very informative. We had a lovely tour of the brewery with lots of history. We then got to try 5 beers, most of which we had never seen before. It was one bottle of beer between 2 people, so 2.5 beers each in total ☺️

Totally recommended. I will repeat for sure

Totally recommended for beer lovers, and especially for those of Damm. The visit becomes a review of the history of Barcelona through the Damm archive, a shame that they still do not have a museum. The selection of beers for the tasting is almost unbeatable (Voll-Damm was missing). The guide did not skimp on details and attention - UNBEATABLE. He knows perfectly both the objects that make up the archive and the tasting products. Thanks for this experience

Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.

How much does Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting cost?

    +

Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.

Is Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Estrella Damm Old Brewery Barcelona Guided Tour with Beer Tasting start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Barcelona?

    +

Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Barcelona?

    +

May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Barcelona?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
