The One Tour NOT to Take
I do not understand all the positive reviews. The car was not clean and there was a window that had been broken and covered with clear tape. There were three of us in the back and I ended up sitting near the window ON a floor mat. The mat covered shards of glass underneath. No explanation, apology, nothing. He took us to a few good photo ops and knew his history, especially with the baseball and football teams so I give him credit for that. I should have booked a hop on and hop off instead!
Response from the operator: I think I explained that the car had been broken into the night before and that I didn't discover this until I went to begin the Tour that morning. I apologized and even asked if the condition of the car would be okay and I was told yes. It was the only time I have ever had a car broken into. The window was the last small triangle one on the left rear side of the vehicle. No excuse BUT its condition did not obstruct any views. I think I profusely apologized that morning and was willing to postpone the Tour if you folks had not given me the green light. Again, I am very sorry that you were so unhappy with your experience.

The best!!
I can’t imagine a better tour guide. George’s knowledge and love for Pittsburgh shines throughout the tour. Highly recommend.

Pittsburgh through the eyes of its biggest supporter.
DeBolt’s Essential Pittsburgh Experience did not disappoint. George is an energetic, knowledgeable and personable guide. Because ours was a private tour we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel. George enhanced his verbal description with a 3-ring notebook filled with related photos and other materials. George’s car is older and a little tired, but it made no difference to our enjoyment of the tour.
Response from the operator: So happy neither Pittsburgh nor did not disappoint. The car reflects the Guide - older and a little tired - but I'm glad it had no effect on your enjoyment of the Tour and appreciation of the City. Thank you for the review.

Know before you go
George is very knowledgeable especially about sports. The vehicle he was driving us in was very old and dirty. Apparently one of the rear side mirrors in the back seat had shattered and the glass was left all over the seat. He put a mat over to cover it. He knew some great places to go for photo ops which was a plus.

Great tour
This was a very informative and interesting tour. George is extremely knowledgeable on the city and it's history. I highly recommend taking this tour to get a good overview of Pittsburgh and the rich history. The tour was over two hours long and cost $120. It covered everything from the sports area to the art district and the views from the incline.

Why this scores 80
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pittsburgh.
How much does Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take cost?
+
Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pittsburgh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pittsburgh is not rushed.
Is Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 594 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pittsburgh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take?
+
Around 208 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pittsburgh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pittsburgh and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Essential Pittsburgh Experience - The One Tour to Take start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pittsburgh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pittsburgh?
+
Pittsburgh runs river cruises at the point, Duquesne and Monongahela incline rides, Strip District food tours, steel history walks and Frank Lloyd Wright trips to Fallingwater. Fallingwater tours need timed tickets and long drive windows. On Outty we rank every Pittsburgh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of the Burgh Walking Tour of Pittsburgh, Bike the Burgh Tour, Just The Tour- Double Decker Bus tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pittsburgh?
+
April to June and September to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pittsburgh?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
