Ephesus Ancient City
This enclosure for archaeological remains at Ephesus elegantly reconciles historic conservation with accessibility for visitors. The site of a succession of great ancient civilizations, Ephesus, on the south-west coast of modern Turkey, embodied a peculiarly fertile synthesis of architecture and culture. In 356BC the Greeks built the Artemesium (a colossal Ionic temple dedicated to Artemis the fertility goddess) which was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. During the 2nd century BC, Ephesus was the fourth largest city in the eastern Roman Empire, famous for its Artemesium, the Library of Celsus and its medical school..

The Temple of Artemis
Temple of Artemision in Ionia at Ephesus in Turkey, became one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It was built in Ephesus on a flat area which has turned into a swamp over the centuries. Today there are only the ruins of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age which was made of marble and sculptured columns. The most beautiful remainings of this temple are exhibited in the London British Museum. The oldest remaining found dates back to 6th century BC. It was surrounded by 36 huge columns, later enlarged upon the orders of the Lydian King, Kreisos during the 6th Century BC. Most of the exhibits in the London British Museum belong to this period. The new Artemis temple was built in the 2nd century BC. It was located on top of the previous one and had tremendous dimensions like 121 columns of each 17,5 meters high. Unfortunately this temple was destroyed by fire and reconstructed but then again demolished by earthquakes.

Our guide Nage did a super job of explaining the history and to the extent she could, kept us in the shade. It’s very impressive! Tour is followed by lunch which conveniently turns into a rug making/sales pitch. I think the rugs were high quality and priced right. But I didn’t select a rug making/sales pitch.

Best guided tour.
Excellent guide Miss Gok Ce. She was very well prepared and pleasent. The only draw back is that we spent to much time at the Carpet Factory. Would highly recommend.

Amazing day with Cann in Kusadasi (Ephesus)!
Just got back from our Ephesus tour with Cann and honestly, it was the highlight of our whole cruise stop. He picked us up right at Kusadasi Port and from there it was smooth sailing all day. Our group was small — just 6 of us — which made such a difference. It never felt like a rushed, herded-through tour group. Cann could tell we were really into the history, so he leaned into it and just kept going deeper with the stories. Seriously, we threw every random question at him and he had an answer for all of it, no hesitation. You could tell he actually loves this stuff. We walked through the Great Theater, the Odeon, the Library of Celsus... skipping the line straight in was clutch because the crowds later in the day looked brutal. Also stopped at the Temple of Artemis and the Meryemana (Virgin Mary's House), both really worth seeing. The van was a nice new Mercedes Sprinter, super comfortable with the AC blasting, which we appreciated big time in the heat. Lunch at the carpet village was a fun little stop too — excellent authentic Turkish lunch and an unexpected educational experience with the Turkish rug/weaving demo. Cann dropped us right back at the port on time, no stress at all. If you're doing Ephesus from a cruise, ask for Cann — small group, real history energy, couldn't recommend it more.

Why this scores 92
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kusadasi.
How much does Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion cost?
+
Prices start at $27 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kusadasi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kusadasi is not rushed.
Is Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 92 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 422 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kusadasi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion?
+
Around 148 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kusadasi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kusadasi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ephesus Small Group - Semi Private Shore Excursion start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kusadasi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kusadasi?
+
On Outty we rank every Kusadasi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include FOR CRUISERS: Ephesus & Virgin Mary Tour with ENTRY TICKET+LUNCH, Ephesus Temple of Artemis and House of Mary Private Half Day Tour, Ephesus and Temple of Artemis Private Tour from Kusadasi Port. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kusadasi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kusadasi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
