AMAZING 2-tank refresher dive!!! We will be back!!!

We had an amazing refresher dive with Alux Divers in Mahahual, MX last week! The communication before hand was frankly great. We knew exactly where we were going and what to expect. Getting dropped off at the village by cab was actually a great experience--very short ride, btw. The locals were incredibly welcoming and gracious! Cab rides were super easy to get to and from the cruise port. (just $5/pp each way) It had been MANY years since our last dive and we loved that we could get private instructor time to go over all of the stuff we may have forgotten over the years. There were three different people getting private instruction while we were there. We were all getting our own pace of refreshing in our own private sessions. They were incredibly patient and also quizzed us as we went to make sure we were retaining the information. Our instructor and dive master, Morgane, was absolutely amazing!! I was frankly initially nervous to be diving again after so long. She was incredible at going through the refresher information with me and my husband. We had her sole focus and she did a great job of focusing on the important details. She used a white board to illustrate her instruction which was really helpful. After she was comfortable that we were retaining what she was refreshing us on, we walked to the shore and did a brief shore check-out for safety before getting on the boat with our gear. I will be honest...when I booked this, I was trusting reviews 100%. I was very nervous. I fortunately underestimated the quality of refresher that we would get (I thought maybe we would get 15 minutes on the boat as we were heading to the dive site). We spent a good amount of time with Morgane at the dive shop going over information with a white board (TRUE instruction), inspecting and preparing our gear, etc. It was far more than I expected and turned out to be exactly what I needed to feel confident in my dive skills once again! The dives were also great. We have been on about 50 Caribbean dives through the years and we saw things on our two dives that we had never seen in the Caribbean before! Beautiful. immense, and peaceful school of boga going overhead was likely my favorite moment! We also saw Eels, Shrip, Lobsters, tons of diff fish/coral. We rented their their gear and I didn't have a single worry--well maintained gear and tanks! We will 100% be back! Loved it so much! Also an INCREDIBLE value!

Good experience

This is about the dive and not the experience, per se. Don't expect the typical cruise experience for an excursion. The pre-education was exceptional. This is the 3rd time I've done a similar excursion and this is the best pre-education I have received by far. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The actual dive was rough. The day we were there, it was very choppy. The water was not clear and it was hard to see each other. We ended up going to a shallower location. I, personally, struggled with the choppy, murky water and was unable to do the dive, but my two adult children enjoyed the dive and felt the guide was amazing.

Could not have been happier

We had an amazing dive with Chris at Alux divers. They worked with a cruise ship schedule and were just outstanding. We saw an abundance of sea life beautiful reef. Chris pointed out cow fish, rays and much more. So grateful for the guide and support with instruction. A must Do if you have the time. Thank you Alux and Chris.

Cruise stop diving excursion

Alux divers was great. My wife and I did a two tank dive with a refresher class. Our kids did a discover Scuba class and we came back after our first dive to pick them up and all go together for their dive. Morgan was great with us and Gabriel worked with the kids and was very patient helping them out with any issues. Alejandro was very professional with all the arrangements, questions and instructions including getting there from the cruise terminal, etc. and forwarding some pictures the following day. Would definitely do it again and highly recommend.

Great tour company, personalized instruction makes you feel safe and ready to dive.

This is a fantastic scuba experience for beginners. My instructor Candela was so patient and really helped me a lot when I got a little nervous on the descent. You feel 100% prepared before the dive. The owner Alex is great and very communicative before the tour. They’re super flexible and let you do everything at your own pace— you never feel rushed or pressured. Each participant is paired with their own instructor so you feel super safe. If I came back to Roatan I’d definitely do this again and bring friends. One of the best tours I’ve taken on Viator!
