good experience but I wouldn't do it again

The location itself is quite beautiful, but the boat trip felt rather long and uncomfortably warm. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it unless there is a specific scientific or research-related interest in the area. That said, our guide made every effort to accommodate our requests and was very attentive throughout.

Response from the operator: Dear Ms. Ulpia, Thank you for booking your Elephanta Caves Tour with us on 2nd May 2025. We are delighted to read that you were satisfied with the guide, Mr. Rahil Khan's service and attentiveness. It’s very kind of you to acknowledge & appreciate his dedication. We acknowledge your feedback regarding the warm weather of the day and the length of the boat journey. The month of May is indeed peak summer in India, and the boat journey to Elephanta Caves is approximately one hour. We hope to welcome you and your family on another exciting tour of ours when you are in Mumbai in the future. Thank you & kind regards, Ms. Madhu (Reservations Manager) World of Bollywood Tours, Mumbai Cell: +919767729782

A wonderful tour to Elephant Caves

We had the tour on Dec 8 and our guide was Devu, a nice guide with motivation and enthusiasm. I highly recommend having a guide to the Elephant Caves because a lot of sculptures can be explained with mythology by the guide. Devu also mentioned us to be careful with stairs and monkeys. After the tour, he guided us to an authentic restaurant called “Bagdadi” We had a great day and it’s already my second time to join Rahil’s tour. What a good choice 👍🏻

Response from the operator: Dear Eric19780320, Thank you very much for your beautiful 5 star review. We’re thrilled to know that you’ll had a wonderful tour visiting the Elephanta Caves. It’s also lovely to know that you enjoyed the lunch experience too. Thank you very much for your kind words for Devu. It was great to have you with us one more time. We look forward to welcoming you again in Mumbai. Much love, Rahil Khan CEO +919767729782 World of Bollywood Tours, Mumbai.

    Amazing India does it again

Another amazing day in India. Our tour started from the Gateway of India and a peaceful boat ride to Elephanta. The walk up to the caves is a bit steep but you can take your time stopping at the stalls, cool food places (we had a great lunch there) and then there is the discovery of the caves .. tranquil yet exciting in the scale of the carvings and their amazing vigour and serenity. The multi head of Shiva was mesmerising. My guide Rahil was clearly explaining the significance of the sites and always able to answer my frequent questions. I really appreciated that he knew which boat queue to join, had the ferry and cave entrance tickets organised. Coming back to the Gateway was a bonus with a setting sun and crowds enjoying the cooler air of the evening. Rahil picked me up and delivered me back to my hotel as part of the deal. Along the way there were more bonuses with a great commentary on interesting places. Obviously this was a great day. Thank you so much.

Response from the operator: Hello Raymond, We are so happy to read your fantastic review about your lovely experience on the Elephanta Caves Tour. It’s great to know that you enjoyed the commentary on the other sites too. Thanks so much for writing such lovely words for Rahil. Our entire team is delighted to read them. We hope to meet you again in Mumbai soon. Thanks so much Kindest regards Team WOB

    Not to be missed

Our guide, Devu, arrived right on time and took us to the dock for the trip to the island with the caves. Since this was our first time in Mumbai, he provide us with a history of the cultures of the city. This discussion flowed into an explanation of the Hindu religion. Devu spoke to out level, something like "Hindu for Dummies." After what I thought was an arduous trek up the steps to the caves, Devu turned us over to another guide, also an employee of company. He was a native of the island knew about the cave in depth. He spent nearly two hours explaining the statues in the caves. That evening we compared our tour with another couple who had also taken a tour of the caves earlier in the caves. We all agreed that we had the better tour. Also we met a second couple heading up to the caves the next day, and they asked where Devu had taken us for lunch. I provided the name and location. The next day, we encountered the couple who said that it was quite good and thanked us for the information.

Response from the operator: Dear Tom and Bill, We are so grateful to you for writing such a fantastic review for us. All of us at WOB India Tours are delighted to know that you had an enjoyable time on our Elephanta caves tour with Devu. Thanks so much for your wonderful words for Devu and the other guide. We look forward to seeing you in India again soon. Thank you so much Much Love and Happiness From India. WOB India Team 😃🙏 We have a dream....Happy Tourists in India 🇮🇳

Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport cost?

    +

Prices start at $180 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Elephanta Caves Tour including Lunch and Transport start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
