More than palm trees
Our guide was very friendly and excitable, we learnt a lot, had fun - great farm, great team! Finished off the tour with some delicious fruit and iced tea, perfect. Pura Vida. 🫶
Response from the operator: The Nacarcosta group is pleased with this lovely expression. Thank you very much, and we hope to see you soon.

Very Best Mangrove Kayak Tour!
This is the perfect kayak tour (or small boat, if you prefer). You start the tour with tasty fruits and information on a beautiful palm oil plantation. Our kayak guide was Jonny Arturo and he is amazing! SO knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and the unique relationships in the mangrove forest. You can’t help but respect the area and everything in it. We saw birds, bats, lizards, and a troop of white-faced capuchin monkeys. Had a terrific time! Afterwards, we had a traditional breakfast prepared by two kind and hard-working women. This is the tour to take!
Response from the operator: The entire group is very excited in Nacarcosta to hear such good comments. Thank you very much for your kind words and see you soon.

Short tour w/ annoyed employee
Main lady at reception desk (who was also the one to give the tour) seemed irritated the entire time and was not afraid to show it on her face as well as how she spoke to people. She seemed bored and that guests and walking through the tour was an inconvenience to her. This “tour” was maybe ten minutes long. All the tour included was a simple gesture to ‘this is where the eco farm tour is’, with little to no explanation and then a 30 second walk to where the water buffalos were. Guests had the option to ride one of the water buffalos which is neat but the reigns they used to guide the buffalo were tied to a nose ring which they obviously pulled on to get the animal to go. The buffalo clearly didn’t want to move but gave in because they keep pulling until the buffalo moves. I saw the buffalo wince a couple times from them pulling. We ultimately came to this location for the mangrove kayak and didn’t know/forgot this tour was part of the excursion. If I would’ve known they would be exploiting animals I would not have chosen this location. The buffalos were super calm and beautiful though, it’s unfortunate they’re used for this purpose. If reigns were used in a more humane way, this would drastically change peoples feelings towards the experience.
Response from the operator: We understand your annoyance is the buffalo ring because you made a good comment the same day.. Thanks to your comment we will explain the use of the ring in the nose. The ring is placed by a veterinarian where the animal falls asleep and its use is for its well-being. The nose ring assists the handler to controle the animal with minimal risk of injury. The ring prevents it from hitting other animals and being able to move it from one place to another without causing stress. The only use of these buffaloes is to be petted. Examples of working animals include horses and cattle that work in fields or rats and marine animals trained to detect landmines. Additionally, camels and llamas may transport goods, while elephants are used in logging. Dogs fill various working roles, such as therapy work and drug sniffing

Great guides, good time
Oscar was our guide on the eco tour and very knowledgeable and friendly. Cruz led Emerson - the Buffalo pulling the cart - both quite enjoyable young gentlemen. We learned much about the place, several animals, birds, etc. Would be good to know there is a lot of walking - I don't suggest sandals as I wore and bring a backpack or place all your belongings in your pockets as opposed to a purse as you'll be away from the cart for an extended period of time. It was a bit disheartening to learn the trip is $20 cheaper if you walk up and book instead of through TripAdvisor. Did not learn as much about the palm oil plantation, production, history or uses of the products as we thought from the description or would have liked.

Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Quepos.
How much does Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos cost?
+
Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Quepos usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Quepos is not rushed.
Is Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Quepos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Quepos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Quepos and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Eco Farm Tour & Water Buffalos start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Quepos within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Quepos?
+
On Outty we rank every Quepos experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Waterfall Adventure, Manuel Antonio Canopy Tour - Longest Twin Zip Line in Central America, Manuel Antonio Park Tour and its Amazing Wildlife and Beaches. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Quepos?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Quepos?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

+
Nacarcosta reception Hotel pickup is not included, so plan your own transport and arrive 15 minutes early.
