Everything we could have hoped for
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour that we booked a couple more, a food tour where we also learnt heaps about the city and another 2 days to Mau Chau and PuLuong. The homestay booked for us was superb. Thanh, our host was very attentive and made sure all our needs were met. When we said we didn't like the food offered (western) he organised proper Vietnamese spread with amazing dishes. He was so reaponsive, he guaged we'd hate the busy, noisy homestay and took us somewhere else. He was very considerate of our moody teenagers. We did an amazing trek through the jungle and several towns where the locals invited us into their homes and refused to take money. He is knowledgeable, funny, kind. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend. Thank you Thanh and Mai. We hope you will visit us ome day.

Knowledgeable and very flexible tour
Mary, our tour guide has a very affable personality and is willing to listen to the needs of her clients as against others that can be very regimented and time constrained. There were 3 of us on the tour and we enjoyed an entertaining and delicious home cooked meal and tasted the home made spirits. The Thay Pagoda was very interesting and for the first time we learned about the symbols in stone and wood and how it pertains to Vietnamese culture. A stop at the Van Phuc silk working factory and shop enabled us to purchase beautiful and genuine silk garments. Highly recommend Vitawell Travel.

A very interesting experience away from the main tourist areas.
Mary led a small group tour for just three of us to Duong Lam Ancient Village. It certainly proved very different from the hustle and bustle of central Hanoi. After first stopping at a typical countryside town and viewing the temple, we reached the ancient village after just about one hour driving. This village demonstrated life in rural Vietnam and we all enjoyed a fabulous traditional meal cooked by a local lady and tried some locally made spirits. After viewing another temple on our return we paid a visit to the silk village and observed working machinery revealing how silk material is made. Overall I can fully recommend this tour as a different way to experience Vietnamese life. Mary is a truly excellent guide and her friendly enthusiasm and knowledge brought the trip to life !
Response from the operator: Dear Mr. Paul thank you so much for your nice words on Tripadvisor we are happy to meet you and interesting with alot experience you sharing wish you and your family are all the best! best regards, Mary

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Duong Lam Ancient Village Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
