Good Experience

We booked it through insta, it was definitely worth the money. The quad bikes were good and fun to ride, and the food was okaish nothing fancy. The desert safari itself was the highlight. Our guide Sameer was really friendly, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. Big thanks to Tom and Sameer for taking such good care of us and making the trip smooth and fun. One important tip for future travelers stay away from the random vendors who approach you in the desert and try to sell photos, scarves, or souvenirs at crazy prices. They can be very pushy and charge a fortune. Thanks especially to Tom for warning us about this before the tour started that really helped. Overall a good experience with a great guide and a memorable desert adventure.

Response from the operator: Thank you sooo much for the honest review sir 😇❤️

Extremely Disappointing and Misleading Experience – Avoid This Tour

I booked this desert safari experience (including quad biking, sandboarding, and BBQ dinner) through Viator in advance of my trip to Dubai, and it turned out to be a major disappointment from start to finish. On the original booking date (29th June), no one showed up for the hotel pickup. We waited over an hour and couldn’t reach anyone on the contact number provided. We received a message later that day apologising and were offered a rescheduled booking for the following day. The next day, we were picked up promptly and given a private car as compensation. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve much. The driver barely communicated with us, and the whole experience felt unwelcoming. At the quad biking location, we were told we had to share bikes for only 20 minutes, unless we paid more to upgrade — this was never mentioned at booking. It was disorganised and felt like a rushed cash grab. Dune bashing was the highlight — but even that was ruined when we stopped in the desert to take a photo with a falcon (advertised as free). After taking the pictures, a man aggressively demanded 250 AED (£50). When I questioned it, he became pushy and intimidating — I felt extremely uncomfortable with my family in the middle of the desert. I gave him 100 AED just to get out of the situation, and he even followed me back to the vehicle demanding more. At the camp, we were bombarded with more upsells — camel photos, VIP seating for 200 AED, paid drinks unless you waited for the buffet to start. Even the free henna for women was done reluctantly and poorly — my wife wiped it off straight away. The food was average, but extremely spicy (not ideal for kids), and entertainment was very basic. We left early, disappointed and frustrated. This whole experience felt more like a money-making trap than an enjoyable tour. I’ve done desert safaris before and this was by far the worst. Misleading advertising, poor organisation, and constant pressure to spend more made it a stressful experience for my entire family. I have been back and forward with my complaint and have now been offered a partial refund.

Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m genuinely sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations. We take all guest reviews seriously, especially when families are involved. ⸻ Regarding your concerns: 1. Missed pick-up on 29 June The original booking date coincided with Islamic New Year, a public holiday in the UAE. Due to last-minute operational disruptions and limited staff availability, some pickups, including yours, were unfortunately impacted. We should have communicated better, and we sincerely apologise for that delay. 2. Private car provided the next day To make up for the inconvenience, we provided you with a private 4x4 vehicle at no extra charge—a significant upgrade from the standard shared transfer, done entirely as a goodwill gesture. 3. Quad biking & upgrades The quad biking area is operated by a third-party vendor. The standard package includes shared bikes for 20 minutes. Any longer rides or solo bikes are optional extras and not mandatory. We’re sorry this wasn’t clearly communicated on site—we’re already speaking to the vendor about improving their process. 4. Falcon photo incident The falcon handler is a freelancer, and we do not condone aggressive behavior. Your discomfort is understandable. We have reported this to the camp team and requested stricter controls for all third-party sellers. 5. VIP seating, food, and other upsells The basic seating and food are included in the package. VIP seating and early buffet access are optional, and guests are never forced to upgrade. We understand that these upsells may feel overwhelming at times, especially for families, and we are working on making the environment more relaxed. 6. Henna and entertainment Free henna includes small, simple designs. Larger patterns are charged by the artist. Still, every guest deserves respectful service, and we’re reminding the staff to treat all guests equally, no matter what option they choose. ⸻ In Summary: • Your full tour was delivered with all core experiences included. • We upgraded you to a private car, at our cost, to try and make up for the initial inconvenience. • A partial refund has already been processed via Viator, even though the full tour was conducted. • We’re taking action with our vendors to improve service and reduce pushy upselling. ⸻ We genuinely regret that your experience didn’t match your expectations, but we also hope you’ll see that we’ve taken this seriously and tried to make things right. Warm regards, Thomas

Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dubai.

How much does Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner cost?

+

Prices start at $250 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dubai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dubai is not rushed.

Is Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dubai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dubai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dubai and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dubai: Desert Safari, Quad bike and Sand boarding with BBQ Dinner start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dubai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dubai?

+

On Outty we rank every Dubai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubai Premium Red Dunes Safari, Camels & 5* BBQ at Al Khayma Camp, Dubai: Red Dunes Safari, Quad, Camel, Dune Bash, BBQ & Shows, Dubai Dune Buggy Safari Tour in Red Dunes Options. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dubai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dubai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
