Wonderful tour of the beautiful Dutch countryside
This was an absolutely beautiful, interesting tour from start to finish. Alex was so kind, gracious and hospitable from the moment we met him, and was really invested in giving us an excellent experience in every way. My husband is a history buff. Alex gave us some fascinating historical and cultural info, and was able to give my husband insightful answers to every question he asked! Alex also made sure we got to Zaanse Schans before the crowds, which made our experience there so much more enjoyable and efficient. The shoemaking demo there was fantastic. The fishing village was absolutely lovely, and Giethoorn is not to be missed! Alex gave us a personal boat tour of the canals and lake there, and gave us plenty of time to walk through the lovely village and eat a relaxing lunch. The entire tour was delightful, and a photographer’s dream with all the unique, beautiful sights along the way. We highly recommend doing this tour with Alex!

Wonderful day tour of Geithoorn, Zaanse Schans, & Durgerdam with AlxTours!
Our tour guide Alex (of AlxTours) gave a wonderful day tour of Durgerdam (small village), Geithoorn, a tulip field, and Zaanse Schans! I appreciated Alex's descriptions of the towns, polders, and how the land was reclaimed from the sea. He gave an informative description at the start of each destination we visited. Charming Dugerdam was our first stop. Then, Alex smartly took us to Geithoorn, a beautiful village of canals and thatched roof cottages, to arrive before the onslaught of tourists. Alex took our small group of 7 people on a relaxing, lovely boat ride through the village and out in the lake. Then we had time to walk around Geithoorn. I visited the Olde Maat Hus museum, which was very nice and provided a good understanding of the history and culture of Geithoorn. Walking along the canals and across the bridges was so peaceful. Our group left Geithoorn as the mob of late morning tourists were arriving and getting their boats stuck in "bumper boat" jams in the canals. This was smartly timed by Alex. We stopped at a tulip field on the way back which was absolutely beautiful. We were able to take gorgeous photos in the field (this was April 27). Zaanse Schans was our last stop. It was very crowded, yet still very picturesque and charming. The clog making and cheese making demonstrations and shops were very good, though very crowded. Alex did a great job navigating our small group of 7 people through the crowds and getting us into a cheesemaking demonstration. The operating windmill closed just before I got there, but if I had gone earlier I would have been able to get in. There was another windmill we were able to go inside, though it was not operating at the time. All in all, this was a wonderful day, and Alex expertly organized the destinations so we would get the most out of the day in each beautiful location. I highly recommend this tour and AlxTours! And, to note, Alex picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel; very helpful and convenient. He also gave us a great restaurant recommendation for dinner at an authentic Dutch restaurant in Amsterdam.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.
How much does Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More cost?
+
Prices start at $128 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More take?
+
Plan for about 9.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.
Is Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 9.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dreamy Dutch Villages Tour: Giethoorn, Zaanse Schans & More start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?
+
On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Amsterdam?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
