"Team chemistry, but an experience below expectations"
The tour was pleasant and the crew members were very friendly and attentive, even apologizing that we couldn't see the dolphins. I perfectly understand that we are facing Nature and that it is not possible to guarantee the presence of the animals. However, unfortunately, we had a lot of fog during the tour and ended up not being able to see practically anything, which made the experience not very worthwhile considering the price paid. It felt like the days when it's not possible to see dolphins are more frequent than would be desirable. For this reason, despite the team's friendliness, I do not consider that the quality/price ratio met expectations and, personally, I would not take this tour again.
Response from the operator: Agradecemos o seu comentário e o carinho dedicado à nossa equipa.

Good trip
We had a great time as a family, even though we didn't see any dolphins. The advertised “success” rate is actually closer to 60% (95% on the website). The meeting spot wasn't visible, so we were really unsure before our 8 a.m. departure.

Terrible experience, avoid!
A terrible and disappointing experience. My partner and I booked the dolphin experience from Olhao. When we arrived, we had a good morning from one of the tour guides, but had no talking throughout the whole ride. Both guides chatted to each other and looked at their phones, smoked and said nothing about the area or dolphins. We did not see any dolphins and saw a few fish. However, no idea what they were as the tour guides said nothing to us. We might as well have booked a ferry ride for a few €. Of course, when we asked for a refund from one of the reps in Olhao, they said we could have a discount on another tour! We will not be booking with this company again, do not recommend and we don’t think we are likely to get any holiday money back of our €70 we paid.

AMAZING!!!!! We saw lots of dolphins 🐬
We booked online which was a very easy process. The man and lady, in charge on the day, were very helpful and friendly. We managed to see lots of dolphins which was amazing 🤩

Worst trip ever.
Worst experience of my holiday life..Told us wrong place for pick up - twice!Other passengers also told incorrect pick up point. Life jackets shoddy and no safety instructions given. No interaction with passengers - no information on surrounding areas , on the dolphins - nothing. Seemed determined to fine the dolphins no matter the sea conditions. Took us way out where there were big waves - felt very unsafe. Everyone thrown about - soaking wet and very scared. Didn’t seem to care when I was sick. I found out after that other local tour companies had refused to go out that day because of the sea conditions. Go at your own risk or if you enjoy taking your life in your own hands.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dolphin Watching from Olhão: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Faro.
How much does Dolphin Watching from Olhão cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Faro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dolphin Watching from Olhão take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Faro is not rushed.
Is Dolphin Watching from Olhão worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Faro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dolphin Watching from Olhão?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Dolphin Watching from Olhão suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dolphin Watching from Olhão?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Faro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Faro and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dolphin Watching from Olhão start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Faro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Faro?
+
On Outty we rank every Faro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ria Formosa - Boat trip to the 3 Islands: Armona | Culatra Island | Lighthouse, From Faro: Benagil Cave, Marinha & Carvoeiro [Full-Day Tour], Ria Formosa Natural Park and Islands Boat Cruise from Faro. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Faro?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Faro?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
