One of a kind dolphin cruise to Shell key!
One of a kind experience on our boat trip to Shell Key! Troy was so friendly, knowledgeable and fun as our captain. We had an amazing encounter with dolphin jumping in our wake and spotted many more on our relaxing cruise the to the island. Shell Island was beautiful with many shells, hence the name and refreshing, clear, emerald water we would definitely do it again! The kids said it was their favorite part of the trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful 5-star review! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that your boat trip to Shell Key was a one-of-a-kind experience for your family. Captain Troy is a fantastic asset to our team, and we will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. He loves sharing his knowledge of the area and making sure everyone has a fun, relaxed, and memorable time on the water. Watching dolphins jump and play in the wake is always a magical highlight, and we are so glad the kids named it their favorite part of the entire trip! Shell Key truly is a beautiful gem with its clear emerald waters and endless shells, and we would love to welcome you and the kids back on board the next time you visit the area. Thanks again for choosing us!

Little confusion when...
Little confusion when trying to locate our actual boat. That could be better, but the actual tour was spot on. Our guide 'Kevin' put the effort into making the trip just what we expected. We all appreciated that. Oh... be sure to have the waivers completed before trip time.
Response from the operator: "Thank you so much for the great review! We are thrilled to hear that Captain Kevin put in the extra effort to make your tour spot on and exactly what you expected. We completely understand that finding the boat can be tricky, and we are actively working on clearer arrival instructions and dockside communication to make boarding seamless for future guests. Thank you also for the excellent reminder to complete waivers ahead of time—it truly helps us get everyone out on the water and enjoying the tour much faster! It was a pleasure hosting your group, and we look forward to welcoming you back for an even smoother experience next time."

10/10 Dolphin Cruise and Snorkeling
My wife and I took this cruise as a part of our honeymoon. We did the 3 hour dolphin cruise with snorkeling on the sunset ride (started 5:30 and ended 8:30). In total we paid about $200 when including the cost to park next to the pier. Our tour guide was Troy, and he was immensely knowledgeable. He took us out to Shell Key first where we snorkeled, and then took us the “long way” back through the canals and houses where we were able to see 4 dolphins in total. We ended the trip with watching the sunset and getting incredible pictures. My wife and I agree that this has been the highlight of our honeymoon. Troy was the best guide with being personable, understanding how to captain a boat, and finding the dolphins for us when other boats just drove by without seeing. The trip was worth every penny, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do a dolphin cruise.
Response from the operator: Congratulations on your wedding, and thank you both so much for choosing to celebrate your honeymoon with us! We are deeply honored to hear that our sunset cruise was the absolute highlight of your special trip. Captain Troy is truly wonderful at what he does, and we are thrilled that his local knowledge, navigation skills, and dolphin-spotting talents gave you such a memorable experience. There is nothing quite like watching dolphins play and catching a Florida sunset over the water to cap off an incredible day.We appreciate you sharing your detailed journey, and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness, love, and many more beautiful adventures together. We would love to welcome you back on board for an anniversary cruise in the future!

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for St Petersburg.
How much does Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa cost?
+
Prices start at $78 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in St Petersburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in St Petersburg is not rushed.
Is Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 344 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in St Petersburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa?
+
Around 120 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in St Petersburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in St Petersburg and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Dolphin Shelling Snorkeling Cruise in Tampa start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central St Petersburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in St Petersburg?
+
St Petersburg pairs beach time with a dense arts district: Dali Museum entry, mural walking tours, clear-kayak paddles through mangrove tunnels and boat runs out to Egmont Key and Shell Key. On Outty we rank every St Petersburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Clear Kayak Tour of Shell Key Preserve and Tampa Bay Area, St. Petersburg Jungle Prada Site History Tour, Island Sunset and Skyway Light Show - 3hr Boat Cruise in St. Pete. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit St Petersburg?
+
October to April, before the summer heat and afternoon storms. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in St Petersburg?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
