Good tour, not great
The tour guide was ok, but the headsets wouldn't stay on my ear and the sound quality was not great. It was very crowded, which is not the fault of the tour, just be mindful of it late September.

Horrible, Terrible, Don’t Do It.
Terrible experience. The earpieces used by the guide weren’t functional two-thirds of the time and the guide didn’t understand how they worked. She had the microphone clipped to her shirt down by her stomach so you had to turn them all the way up and then when she walked into certain rooms she would whisper which made it even more difficult to hear. When they were working the clicked and chirped in your ear. Sounded like an old 1960s transistor radio. Besides the quick entrance I don’t know why we had a guide at all. The tour is billed as two hours but the tour of the Doges Palace was only an hour and the rest of the time was spent as some glass blowing factory, for which we opted out. Not at all worth the time or money we spent. Viator, don’t you have any quality control?

Make sure you get the right tickets at the meeting point
Got to the first place on the agenda to discover we had not been given our tickets at the meeting point. So we got put aside to wait for someone to come with them. Then the crowd went off to visit the Doge's palace upstairs which my husband could not do. We were told they would be an hour and after that hour we gave up waiting and went on to the Basilica on our own. Also we booked for 10.45 in the morning and this got changed to 1.30 pm then this got changed again to 2pm. Overall the organisation on this tour was a shambles.

Must see when in Venice.
This is a must see in Venice. The palace and chapel were amazing. The tour guide was very detailed and knowledgeable about both sites. One note. There are a lot of steps at the palace. There are elevators if you need them, however the elevators don't really line up with the tour route. It gets very easy to get seperated from the group. Afterwards we also went to see a glass blowing demonstration which was really neat.

Valentina is the best
Valentina was wonderful. So warm and so well informed about the area. We had a semi-private tour and we all singing Italian songs on the boat ride back. I recommend her highly.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Venice.
How much does Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Venice usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Venice is not rushed.
Is Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 41 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Venice, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Doge’s Palace & Optional St. Mark’s Basilica Fast Access Tour?
+
Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Venice can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Venice and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

On Outty we rank every Venice experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Venice Pasta & Tiramisu Cooking Class with wine by Cooking Italy, Eating Venice Small Group Food & Drinks Tour, Tour of The Real Hidden Venice. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Venice?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Venice?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
