Big disappointment all round.
I was promised an English speaking guide as although I speak some Spanish I felt it would be better in English, because of safety concerns. However, the person I dived with had little English. I did feel relatively safe with him, however he did not give any information (in either language) about what we were going to see, what the wrecks were, how they got there, anything! The diving part was subbed out to another company, who had never heard of "Unique Tours". They spent ages trying to find enough fins to fit everyone, and their facilities were primitive - the bathroom was disgusting! The day's schedule of activities was not communicated, I was left waiting around for ages. Ended up being a nine hour day for one 45 minute dive! After the dive I waited around for an hour not knowing where I was supposed to go for lunch. Eventually someone came and got me, but nobody had explained that it was on another island which meant another boat ride. I had already showered (in disgusting facilities) and changed out fo swimwear, because nobody had explained that there would be "beach time" at the restaurant. However because I had been left waiting for so long it didn't matter, as I didn't have time for beach. Also didn't get the promised sun lounge. I had requested a vegetarian lunch when I booked, but the guide was surprised by that and had to hastily throw something together. The boats did not have ladders, so I had to climb in an out of them. If I had know that I would not have booked as I have old knee injuries that make that difficult. I know that the guide can't do anything about the water being really cloudy, I know that is not their fault, but "Unique Tours" could have given a heads up about that, as the whole reason I went on the tour was to go diving, but the visibility was awful. All in all I was very disappointed by the day, and it has put me off using Viator any more, as I cannot trust that you have thoroughly checked the tours that you sell.
Response from the operator: It's a shame you had this bad experience. However, you should have read the detailed information on the Viator platform and the detailed instructions we sent you after you made the reservation. As you mentioned regarding the murky water, it's something we can't control. However, there was no rain that week, which makes it highly unlikely the water was murky. Regarding the diving facilities, I remind you that it's located on an island a bit far from the city, and therefore the locals work with what they have on the island. However, the facilities are not in the condition you described. The transfer to the lunch area is on the same island, but it's located in a different area. While you were finishing your diving activity, the guide proceeded to send the rest of the clients to the lunch area, and this only took 20 minutes while the boat went and returned. It's still a shame your experience wasn't the best.

Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cartagena.
How much does Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia cost?
+
Prices start at $122 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cartagena usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cartagena is not rushed.
Is Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cartagena, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Diving in Playa Blanca Barú with Lunch - Cartagena Colombia start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cartagena within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel, Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
