Family trip -Uzbekistan -Tashkent & Samarkand
Uzbekistan Trip Review – Tashkent & Samarkand Our seven-day journey through Uzbekistan was an unforgettable experience, offering the perfect blend of history, culture, architecture, hospitality, and cuisine. Visiting the country's two iconic cities—Samarkand and Tashkent—gave us a wonderful insight into the rich heritage of the ancient Silk Road while also showcasing Uzbekistan's modern development. Samarkand – A Journey Through History Arriving in Samarkand by taxi was a long journey from Tashkent, taking almost 6 hours. Although the taxi experience was not very impressive and the driver had limited English communication skills, the journey was worth it once we reached Samarkand. The city immediately captivated us with its magnificent Islamic architecture, stunning historical landmarks, and the timeless beauty of its Silk Road heritag The highlight was undoubtedly Registan Square, whose three grand madrasahs are among the most beautiful architectural masterpieces in Central Asia. Walking through Shah-i-Zinda, visiting the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, and exploring the Bibi-Khanym Mosque provided a deep appreciation of the city's rich cultural and historical significance. The bustling Siab Bazaar offered an authentic local experience where we enjoyed traditional Uzbek bread, dried fruits, spices, and interacted with friendly local vendors. Every corner of Samarkand reflected centuries of history, making it one of the most memorable destinations of the trip. Tashkent – A Modern Capital with Traditional Charm Returning to Tashkent, we experienced a city that beautifully balances modern infrastructure with traditional culture. Wide roads, clean public spaces, impressive parks, and one of the world's most beautiful metro systems made exploring the city enjoyable. Visits to Khast Imam Complex, Amir Timur Square, Independence Square, and Chorsu Bazaar highlighted both the historical and contemporary character of the capital. Shopping was convenient, with a variety of local handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs available at reasonable prices. Food and Hospitality Uzbek hospitality exceeded our expectations. The people were warm, welcoming, and always willing to help visitors. Traditional dishes such as Plov, Shashlik, Lagman, and freshly baked Uzbek bread were delicious throughout the trip. Restaurants maintained good quality while offering excellent value for money.

We hope to welcome you back again soon to explore even more of our beautiful country! 😊

Do not use this operator if you want a smooth and well organised holiday.
Although the price looked attractive and some of the individual drivers and guides should be recommended, the lovely Sevinc in Samarkand who looked after us beautifully and was very charming and the calm Outilla who took us round Taskent with endless patience . I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS TOUR OPERATOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. From not delivering on a domestic flight he had promised us and instead not only sending us to a much further away airport at a much worse time. He gave us this information only three days before we came so we had to go with it. He did not correctly inform guides as to where we were staying, he sent a boy racer to take us on a long drive , his speed radar kept chiming the whole way, he had no seat belts in the back, he played with several gadgets throughout the journey. The road was dangerous , we saw three pile ups on the way but he continued to drive with one hand and much too fast despite repeated requests. He suggested nothing to enrich out stay , made no sugeestions and refused to help us book a table or tickets for a concert. his responses were late and churlish, altogether a very poor experience.

Every detail was booked ahead from drivers and vehicle, transport, guided, trains, flights, back up. Fantastic organisation by the tour operators. I am planning to return with a big group of friends next year and use Gotouzbekistan again. Thank you so much Izzatullo and Ibrohim. We loved the trip you organised

Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tashkent.
How much does Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent cost?
+
Prices start at $999 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tashkent usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent take?
+
Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tashkent is not rushed.
Is Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tashkent, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tashkent can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tashkent and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Discover Uzbekistan - explore top destinations: Samarkand, Bukhara & Tashkent start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tashkent within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tashkent?
+
On Outty we rank every Tashkent experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Amirsoy, Chimgan & Charvak – A Full-Day Mountain Tour, Best Of Tashkent: Amirsoy Skiing Resort, Chimgan and Charvak Lake, Tashkent: Guided Walking & Food Tour with Local Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tashkent?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tashkent?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
