It was a lot of fun, and so interesting to see what Pachinco is all about. Makoto was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the games. A great way to have a different experience in Japan

My wife and I had a great experience learning pachinko with Makato. Taught us how to play, the better machines to play on, and also how to cash out our winnings. Thank you!

Have a fun time learning about pachinko with a passionate guide

If you have ever been curious about the game of pachinko you should absolutely hang out with Makoto-senpai and let him break it down for you. His passion for the game is real, and he genuinely enjoys introducing pachinko to new people. The game can be hard to decipher at first for the uninitiated, with many machine types being unique, so it helps that his English is fantastic. As with any game of chance, make sure you're OK with trading some money for a memorable experience. If you're lucky, you might end up making a bit of money, or better yet, run into some of the regulars who make up the local Nippori pachinko community, and who are definitely not city-boys! Thanks for a great time Makoto-san! Hope to hang out again another time.

Response from the operator: Thanks a lot for great comment and we really hoping to see you again!

A great pachinko friend if you need one.

This is what I covered with Makoto during our session: Pachinko parlor etiquette How to pick a machine Playing the machine How to collect winnings and exchange them for prizes I decided to play a Sword Art Online machine after my tutorial, and Makoto gave me personalized tips as I played. When I ended up not winning anything, Makoto still gave me a small prize from his own winnings. I had a good time overall. If you already have a friend in Japan who's into pachinko or slots, you may not need Makoto's help. But if you don't, Makoto is the perfect friend to introduce you to this dazzling game.

Response from the operator: Thanks for in depth comments and I really could see you enjoyed experience! Sorry for that you could not manage to hit your bonus but at least you could understood what was going on there. Hope you to come back for another challenge!

    AMAZING Experience!

It was AMAZING experience! The tour guide Makoto thought me pretty much everything I should have known before playing and shared me a little technic as well! It was not possible for me to get this deep on understanding on how to pachinko without him!

Response from the operator: Sorry for not responded so long (I thought I did). Thanks for your kind review and hope you come back to play more of those thousand kinds of machine!

Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game cost?

    +

Prices start at $9000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game take?

    +

Plan for about 1.3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 1.3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover the Secrets of Pachinko, Japan's Traditional Game start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

    +

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

    +

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
