2. Kumamoto Castle is one of Japan’s most famous and impressive castles, known for its massive stone walls, elegant black exterior, and rich samurai history. Originally built in the early 1600s by Lord Kato Kiyomasa, the castle was designed as a stronghold with clever defensive structures.    Stop at Aso Road Station, a popular roadside rest area where travelers can shop for local specialties, fresh produce, and souvenirs. We have a variety of Aso specialties that can only be found here, including seasonal vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy products, desserts, and handmade bento.
