Had an excellent 1st dive with Kobus and everyone was great! Conditions were good and I got to see a bunch of cool creatures

My husband and I did the discovery dive in Simon’s Town. It was a great experience and route. We got to see a ship wreck, sleeping sharks, octopus, lots of star fish and two small breeds of sharks (pajama and shy sharks). Kobus was extremely easy to work with, very communicative, and made the dive easy. He made sure we were well informed of how to use the gear and checked on us often to make sure we were good during the dive. Would absolutely recommend this adventure to anyone interested in diving. And hope to dive again with Kobus in the future.

Simons Town scuba
We were contacted by Kobus a few days before to confirm details and sizes of gear. Arrived at dive centre and from the get go had full assurance that all would be good. Kobus talked us through all of our kit and once sorted we drove less that 5 mins to the beach and the drive started. Before entering the water Kobus told us roughly the plan of the dive and what we would/could/should see. I cannot recommend this dive centre and Kobus enough as after a bad experience with a different dive centre I have now had my faith restored.

Unforgettable Scuba Adventure with Dive Team Cape Town
Unforgettable Scuba Adventure with Dive Team Cape Town Rating: 5/5 stars My two sons (ages 13 and 11) and I had an incredible scuba diving experience with Dive Team Cape Town, booked through Viator. I hold a PADI Open Water certification, but my boys don’t yet have theirs. This dive stood out as a memorable family adventure. It was their second dive ever, following their first in the Maldives. Dive master Kobus made it an exceptional follow-up! The highlight was encountering a massive short-tailed stingray, an awe-inspiring moment that left us all amazed underwater. Cape Town’s marine life is truly unique, and Kobus ensured we experienced it fully. He also captured amazing GoPro footage of our dive, perfectly recording the stingray and other highlights. After the trip, he promptly sent us the video links via WhatsApp, a fantastic bonus that let us relive the experience! I was especially impressed by how well the instructors managed my younger son. About seven minutes into the dive, my 11-year-old felt uncomfortable in the cold water and wanted to stop. I was ready to return with him, but Kobus swiftly arranged for the assistant instructor to stay back, calmly reassuring him. This allowed me to continue diving with my older son. That care and flexibility turned a potential letdown into a win for everyone. My 11-year-old felt supported, and I didn’t have to cut my dive short or end my 13-year-old’s adventure early. The entire experience was seamless, from booking through Viator to Korbus communicating clearly and promptly via WhatsApp beforehand. The Dive Team was professional, friendly, and passionate about their work. They kept us feeling safe and excited the whole time, which is crucial for new divers like my boys. If you’re thinking about scuba diving in Cape Town, I highly recommend Dive Team, especially with Kobus leading the way! They handled everything with skill and warmth, and the GoPro footage was the perfect touch. We’ll definitely return for more underwater adventures with them. Thank you for an unforgettable day!

Fantastic way to try Scuba for the First Time
This was my first time doing anything like scuba diving so I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. Kobus was a fantastic instructor and put you at ease. The location was also brilliant for seeing marine life and I'd 100% do it again!
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for the 5-star review, Lloyd! It was a pleasure taking you on your first dive, and I’m glad you enjoyed the experience. Hope to dive with you again soon!

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners cost?
+
Prices start at $1799 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Discover Scuba Diving in Cape Town for Beginners start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
