My flight landed at 6:00 a.m., and Tommy picked me up at the airport and took me straight to the Miraflores Locks. We arrived just in time to watch a ship transit the Panama Canal, but the real treat was seeing a U.S. attack submarine passing through the locks! Apparently, that's something that happens maybe once a year. Talk about incredible timing! Oh, Tommy, what a guy! We also watched the IMAX movie, which was good, although I probably could have skipped it. Then again, after arriving at 6:00 a.m., the comfortable theater provided a welcome opportunity for a quick nap! What really sets Tommy apart is his extraordinary knowledge of Panama. The man is has encyclopedic knowledge of Panama. As we drove around the city, he effortlessly wove together fascinating stories about Panama's history, politics, culture, & economic development. This wasn't just sightseeing, it was an engaging storytelling and an introduction to a country with a remarkable story, told by someone who clearly knows & loves it. Tommy was also incredibly accommodating: when I mentioned wanting to visit the local Mercado de Mariscos, he enthusiastically made it happen & recommended some fantastic, authentic, "eat-like-a-local" selections. We probably could have turned the afternoon into an entire food tour if I hadn't been running out of steam! Eventually, Tommy dropped me at my hotel in Casco Viejo, but not before showing me the presidential palace & sharing recommendations for shops, restaurants, & places to explore on my own. After a much-needed nap, I followed several of his suggestions, and every one was a winner. That Tommy! The service didn't end there. Tommy also agreed to take me back to the airport early the following morning for a very reasonable price. And even then, he indulged one final request: a stop at the iconic Panama sign for one last photo before heading to the airport. What impressed me most was how personalized the entire experience felt. Tommy wasn't simply following a scripted itinerary or watching the clock, in fact I'm sure we went over time. He listened to what interested me, adjusted the day accordingly, and genuinely wanted me to have a wonderful experience in Panama. Whether you're trying to squeeze the most out of a long layover, spending a day in Panama City, or looking for a knowledgeable private guide for several days, I cannot recommend Tommy and Best Panama Tour highly enough. He's knowledgeable, personable, flexible, reliable, and genuinely fun to spend time with. I'll absolutely be returning to Panama, and when I do, there's a 100% chance I'll be booking Tommy again. Must do to see the city in the most relaxed and efficient way

Eric was fantastic Super knowledgeable and he took me to all the places AND took my pictures I would totally recommend him

Tour was not as advertised; inadequate English from guide

I don't like to give a negative review but feel compelled to do so. Our guide did not speak adequate English and could not answer simple questions. He talked continually throughout the tour with much repetition of trivial and uninteresting details. We went to the canal after being detoured because of a documented road closure. If he would have used a driving app, we could have avoided a long, roundabout way to the canal. At the Panama Canal, his timing for the documentary/canal viewing was not efficient and if we had listened to his recommendation, we would have been there for hours longer. The tour itinerary is listed as follows: Stop At: Panama Canal, Panama City Panama Stop At: Amador Causeway (Calzada de Amador), Av. Amador, Panama City 0000 Panama Stop At: Casco Viejo, Avenida Central, Panama City Panama After the canal, he drove us around the city at random. As we drove, he pointed out at nauseam the "Spanish" architecture and where the soil from the Panama Canal was placed to create the areas now built up. By the time we headed to the Amador Causeway, it was late and there was a lot of traffic which we could have avoided if we went straight from the canal to Amador Causeway. We asked to turn around halfway along the causeway because our tour was so late and we needed to return to our hotel. Needless to say, the tour of Casco Viejo did not happen.

Best Panama City guide

The tour was wonderful in great part to our guide Daniel. He navigated the sometimes crazy streets of Panama City and the old town with calmness and ease. He was very knowledgeable about Panama City and its historical importance. He was very friendly and his English was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about Daniel and I’ll definitely request his services when I’m back in that part of Panama.
