    Japan and MUCH More

From the moment we contacted Becki and Shawn about this trip we felt we had found the perfect guides. And we were right! They prepared us in advance on a regular basis and then provided a magnificent experience from start to finish. Having worked and lived in Japan, they have extensive knowledge of the country and its history and culture . And of course are fluent in the language. The organization of our trip was so efficient! No time was wasted with so much to see and do. The hotels were great and food fantastic. What sets them apart though is their great personalities and sense of fun as well as their love of Japan. We came away having a greater appreciation for the country and the people and had a lot of fun doing it!

Response from the operator: C and R, thank you so much! We had an absolute blast traveling around Japan with you, R, and the rest of your group. Our main goal on our tours is to bridge the gap between American culture and Japanese culture, so you can just focus on having fun. The efficient pace of our tours comes directly from the years we spent living and working in the country. We love sharing that insider knowledge to help our guests navigate everything from local subways to regional culture like seasoned pros. We’re thrilled that you came away with a deeper appreciation for Japan and their beautiful culture. Your kind words mean the world to us, and we truly hope to see you on another adventure down the road! — Shawn and Becki

15 Day Small Group with Japan and More

Our group of six friends traveled to Japan with Japan and More while celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. From the very beginning, the planning process was seamless and personalized. Japan and More created an itinerary that perfectly balanced Japan’s rich cultural traditions, beautiful scenery, fascinating history, and modern attractions. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our special celebration. A special thank you goes to our guides, Shawn and Becki, whose knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made the trip truly exceptional. They were attentive to our groups interest and needs, always ensuring that everything ran smoothly while sharing fascinating insights about the places we visited. The accommodations were excellent, transportation was seamless and every day brought new discoveries - from historic temples and beautiful bonsai gardens and delicious cuisine. What impressed us most was the company’s commitment of ease and comfort. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a well planned, enriching, and unforgettable travel experience.

Response from the operator: Hello Dee R, thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are genuinely thrilled that our 15-day tour exceeded all expectations for you and your group of friends. We take immense pride in ensuring all transportation is completely seamless, taking the stress out of navigating Japan's intricate transit networks so you can simply relax. We’re so happy that you and D loved the visit to the beautiful local bonsai gardens and historic temples. Delivering that perfect balance of comfort, ease, and daily discovery is our ultimate goal. We appreciate you recommending Japan and More, and we hope to travel with you and your group again soon! — Shawn and Becki

Great experience to understand Japan from the inside with a small group.

Outstanding trip! My wife has always created private travel for our family with private drivers, guides, transportation, food experiences and life experiences. This time her research found Becki and Shawn and our trip was on par or better than any other previous trips our family enjoyed. The reason is she found Japan and More and she was able to sit back and enjoy without any worries or concerns. This was a trip of a lifetime, we got to experience the love that Becki and Shawn have for Japan and its people and culture in the environment of a small group. Thank you again for 15 days of fun and education and your friendship and instituting sake in my morning schedule.

Response from the operator: We are grateful for this incredible feedback. Knowing that we delivered a great trip for you and S. is the highest compliment we could possibly receive. It was our pleasure taking care of all the details so you and your wife could sit back, relax, and enjoy Japan worry-free. We loved having you in our small group and sharing our enthusiasm for Japan's culture and people. Thank you for the fun and the friendship. And we take full responsibility for your new love for Japanese sake.

Cultural guidance, seamless logistics, personalized itinerary, thoughtful preparation, and warm, knowledgeable hosts!

After taking a 15-day trip in November, 2025 my wife and I would whole heartedly recommend Japan and More for anyone considering a tour of Japan. While we usually travel on our own, getting about via train or rental car, we felt a bit intimidated by Japan and thought a tour might be helpful. For us it was a wonderful way to go for a number of reasons. Our feeling that we made the right decision began at our first breakfast meeting, when we were given advice on how to travel in Japan with a the goal of fitting in to the culture, and not making typical tourist mistakes that might inadvertently frustrate the Japanese. And this advice continued throughout the trip with helpful tips on things like etiquette on riding the trains, how to eat at restaurants like a local, and proper behavior at religious sites. All this understanding was brought home when we occasionally saw other tourists doing those things that we now knew to be inappropriate. It was a great lesson on respecting the culture of your host country and one that we would not have had without Becki and Shawn’s guidance. We also felt because of the logistical planning Japan and More provided we were able to experience a broader range of activities than might have been the case had we gone alone. Some of these were events we simply would not have had access to easily, such as dinner with a geisha (maiko/geiko), or a personalized sushi making lesson. But also because of Becki and Shawn’s experience with local transportation, we were much more efficient in moving about than we would have been otherwise, enabling us to get to more places in the time we were there. Before the trip we were provided a questionnaire on what we were interested in, and the itinerary was constructed and customized in part with these responses in mind. As a result we spent much of our time going to places and doing things of interest to all of us in the group. But also some free time was built in to the schedule so if a particular event on the schedule was of less interest it was no problem for us to use that time to explore on our own. Another aspect of the preparation was providing background information and recommendations on what to prep for in advance of the trip (history, books/films and also local restaurant guides). These were sent a few months leading up to our departure and we appreciated the regular communications and touch points. In addition, during our trip, both Becki and Shawn went out of their way to provide personal recommendations - whether it was where to buy handmade chopsticks, attend a local autumn festival, advice on green tea (Becki is an expert!) and tasting local traditional Japanese sweets from the towns we visited. Finally Becki and Shawn are such engaging and pleasant guides, that it wasn’t long before we really felt we were just seeing the country with a couple friends who know it very well and want you to experience it, and enjoy it, as much as they do.

Response from the operator: Thank you both so much for this truly wonderful and comprehensive review! We’re grateful that you guys decided to allow us to show you the very best of Japan. It was our pleasure to give you cultural guidance before, and during your trip. We believe that respecting the culture of your host country is essential, and we’re so glad that our advice helped you feel comfortable. Most importantly, we’re so happy you felt like you were seeing Japan with a couple of friends who know the country well. Again, thank you for your wholehearted recommendation!

    Best way to see Japan

We had a fabulous trip to Japan to see the autumn colours and really experience the culture and beauty of the country. Becky and Shawn showed us the beauty, culture and also taught us how to respect the culture and the local people. We saw so many fantastic things too numerous to list here, but highlights included a geisha evening, fall colours around Mt Fuji, and a sumo tournament. All spectacular and fun. As a train enthusiast I could not have asked for a better method of travel. Japan and more went out of their way to help us make the most of our time in the country.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Tora, for your wonderful review! We’re glad that you guys had such a good time and were able to see the beautiful autumn colors. It’s great that you enjoyed learning about the culture of Japan. Being a train enthusiast really made the travel a lot of fun. The Japanese rail system is simply the best way to go! It’s nice to hear that we were able to make the most of your time here. Thank you again!

Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.

How much does Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group cost?

    +

Prices start at $10898 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group take?

    +

Plan for about 360 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.

Is Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 360-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 360-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Japan Tour: 15-day Small Group start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tokyo?

    +

Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tokyo?

    +

Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tokyo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
