Never got out of the resort....

No idea what this place was like. Whoever they book through sent their driver, who texted me he's outside my hotel. I had been waiting an hour talking to the concierge. I called the booking agent who yelled quite rudely, defending his driver, until I handed the phone to the concierge. Once proven wrong, the agent canceled my trip and issued a refund through the concierge without talking to me again. While I appreciate the refund, I expect a level of professionalism. This is a business who i will adamantly speak against and ensure they get no more.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important facts. Our driver arrived at the scheduled pickup location and remained there for approximately 20 minutes, exceeding our standard waiting policy. During that time, the hotel concierge confirmed that the guest did not arrived at the designated pickup point at time. Although our team followed the scheduled procedure and the service was considered a no-show under our policies, we chose to issue a goodwill refund as a gesture of customer care, despite the transportation having been dispatched and the operational costs already incurred. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your future travels.

Wait to schedule excursions through your hotel!

We were there 45 minutes before pick up time but no one ever came to pick us up. Viotor said the driver called our name several times but there was 2 other couples there that were also waiting for the same excursion. The only transportation that showed up while we were there was transportation to the airport. The hotel finally provided us with free transportation to go shopping. Fortunately I had time to cancel a more expensive excursion we had planned later in the week with a full refund. Always plan excursions through your hotel!! We did 3 with them.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback, while we understand your frustration several other customer got picked up for this tour, and on the list you were the only ones not showing up. Have a blessed holidays

    In memory of Clay

We wanted to experience how cigars were made! Our father and grandfather always loved cigars! We toured on the 28 year anniversary of his death! It was wonderful! The cigar process is quite unique and quite time consuming! We enjoyed the demonstration! The shopping experience was easy and reminded me of the good old days when you were catered to when purchasing merchandise! One on one service! I would highly recommend this tour!

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the experience. We're glad you had a chance to explore unique Dominican treasures. If there's anything you'd like to see improved or further feedback to share, feel free to reach out to our customer service team—we'd love to assist!

    Poor Communication/Customer Service

I am sure this excursion would normally be amazing, we just were never able to get the tour started. There was some confusion with which hotel pick-up was at. I received a text from a miami number stating our drive was out front waiting for us, we tried calling back to advise there was no driver. They wouldn't answer our call would only accept text responses. When we advise we were out front with no drive, they requested photo proof of where we were. It felt very strange, and not customer friendly facing. We had waited for more than 30 mins and then we text back and told the person to just cancel our reservation ( we did not ask for a refund).

Response from the operator: We’re sorry to hear about your experience and the confusion with the pick-up. This isn’t the service we aim to provide. Please reach out to our customer service team to address the issue and ensure it’s resolved. Your feedback is valuable and helps us improve.

Would not per se recommend but if it rains why not

For the price it’s ok but I actually expected a bit more the time what it was. It was a bit in the middle of nowhere but luckily the shuttle brings you back and forth to the resort. I don’t particularly think the place brings lots of value but for the price it’s ok I guess

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We're glad the shuttle service was helpful. We're always aiming to improve, so please contact our customer service to discuss how we can enhance your experience further.

Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Punta Cana.

How much does Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate cost?

    +

Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Punta Cana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Punta Cana is not rushed.

Is Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Punta Cana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Punta Cana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Punta Cana and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Dominican Treasures: Rum, Cigars, Coffee & Chocolate start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Punta Cana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Punta Cana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Punta Cana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Punta Cana Zipline - 8 lines and a suspenseful hanging bridge, Punta Cana Buggy or ATV Tour with Macao Beach, Cave and Tastings, Buggy Excursion to Macau Beach and Natural Cave. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Punta Cana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
