What you'll see and do

  1. Borgo Storico di Riomaggiore

A jewel of the Cinque Terre, this village was founded at the end of the XII century. Along the charming road down to the "Marina" you will find the typical coloured houses, which seem to cling to one another, with the boat dock in the middle.

45 minutes here · Admission included

  2. Borgo Storico di Manarola

Its name almost certainly derives from "Manium Arula" (dead souls temple). The harbour is formed by a terraced promenade with boats hanging at the foot of a handful of coloured houses. Above the hills you'll find the terraces with vines growing on them... these are the vines of Cinque Terre, a dry white wine, rough like the sea.

45 minutes here · Admission included

  3. View Point Corniglia

In ancient times, the village was more extended southward, but strong slumps due to the sea have caused a number of landslides of the hill. This is now a long cliff, connected with the village by 365 steps, numbered like the days of the year. This village was built around the XI century and still preserve its charm.

60 minutes here · Admission included

  4. Vernazza

The web of "carruggi" (narrow lanes) and steep stairways converges in the main square overlooking the sea. This is the centre of the village, where stands the church dedicated to Saint Margaret of Antiochia (1318) with its foundations in the sea.

45 minutes here · Admission included

  5. "Rubra" used to be the ancient Latin name given to this village because of the reddish colour of the hills at sunset. "...Rocky and austere village, refuge for fishermen and farmers", as the Nobel Price Eugenio Montale described the village of Monteroaao, summer retreat of his family. A rich church and a lot of narrow and fresh "carruggi" are the setting for lively lemon trees.

A day in paradise, stepped back in time !

Our guide, Sergei, took us on scenic walkways that blew our mind! Told a ton of history and fun facts ! A caring person who made our short time there, so worth while we will definitely come back to spend a few days ! Thanks to Camila for putting it all together,,,,after a rough start!! She made it happen and we are so blessed!!! Thanks to all involved!

Response from the operator: We are so grateful for your kind review, it was our pleasure working with you. Thank you so much!

Great, your well worth the cost

The tour guide was great. Need to have someone to speak the language as your guide. She was able to get us onto better seats throughout the excursion. The trains were a little tricky and we followed her guidance. Stephania was very caring of our medical needs throughout the long day. Well worth the cost. She was able to find hidden treasures from locals.

Response from the operator: We are so grateful for your 5-star review. Thanks for sharing your rating with us and the community.

Such a fun day!

Only have 1 day and must see Cinque Terre! This was a long tour, but great! Make sure to bring great walking shoes! Rosanna and Stephano were awesome! So sweet and helpful! We had no trouble getting to all the different places with only 1 day to experience it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with one of our tours. We are pride in knowing you were happy and we hope we can meet you again in the next future!

The genuine Cinque Terre experience

What a joy to meet our wonderful guide Rosanna. This was an experience which absolutely made our holiday from Australia. We had been scheduled to visit the famous site but due to bad weather we were unable to dock. My friend was undaunted and consequently searched for a way to see the historic site online. We then had to take a leap of faith and pay a lot of money in the hope that this purported tour online was genuine. Well more than genuine it was such a wonderful day that topped off a momentous holiday. Thankyou so much Rosanna what a gem you are.

Response from the operator: We would not be able to grow and develop without feedback like yours. We are thrilled you had a great experience with Rossana and hope to see you again soon!

Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome cost?

+

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome take?

+

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Discover Cinque Terre: Private Day Tour from Rome start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
