Dharavi tour
We had a truly wonderful tour with our guide, Sayed. He is a young man who grew up in Dharavi himself, which gave him a deep and genuine insight into how everything works there — from the small industries to everyday life in the community. His personal experiences made the tour both authentic and incredibly meaningful. It was especially interesting to see how different Dharavi is from the typical Western perception of what a “slum” is. Dharavi is so much more than that label suggests. It is a place where businesses thrive, where entrepreneurship is everywhere, and where people grow up, build families, and live their lives with resilience and pride.

Couldn’t recommend this tour more!
We are 2 young girls visiting from Australia and this was a highlight of our trip! It was incredibly eye opening to understand the inside life of Dharavi. Our guide Adil who was a resident himself was very informative and knowledgeable giving us the full experience. We felt welcomed and very safe throughout the tour. If in Mumbai this is a must do!

Tour of one of the largest slums in the world
A rare opportunity to visit somewhere where we have little knowledge other than the word ‘slum’ and what we perceive. Anaan our guide had lived in Dhavani all his life and his enthusiasm to change a perception was well done. From showing us the ingenuity of the many different businesses from food production to pottery and leather to recycling and clothing, the connections between the industries and the positive effects of the recycling were pretty astounding. Nothing is wasted! We walked all through the area and into the main streets as well as amongst all the residential and business areas. Even played badminton at the school! The community spirit could really be seen and felt, though some of the hardships were also plain to see. The smiles and pride shown by so many was amazing and would encourage anyone to go and visit. Anaan was a great guide and good fun to be with.

Farzan showed us around the community of Dharavi where we got to understand the way of life, and see the phenomenal entrepreneurial industries that have emerged. The tour was fascinating and awe-inspiring. Highly recommend!
