Tour company didn’t arrive sadly

We booked several days before the tour date and had booking confirmation. Didn’t hear anything from the tour company before the tour but that’s not unusual having booked several things via Viator before. We waited outside our hotel at the tour time ready for pick up as was offered and notified on the booking. We were waiting for over an hour at the hotel and no one came. I messaged the tour operator while waiting to say we were waiting and then later for an ETA on arrival but no reply. I also called but it said unavailable. After an hour, I then messaged Viator who also tried the tour company but no response from them. I understand from hotel staff that delays can happen but it would have been good to be kept in the loop. We only had that day for a safari tour before leaving Dubai and it was too late to arrange anything else with another company because we didn’t know if they were just delayed. I understand these things happen and companies see hundreds of tourists each day but communication would have been key here. We were left massively disappointed by the lack of contact, lack of tour and ultimately lack of experience. We still don’t know what happened, except booking, paying, waiting and no one arriving.

Magical Evening in the Desert

The sunset was magical, painting the desert sky with shades of orange and pink – truly a picture-perfect moment. The campsite was warm and welcoming, with traditional Arabic hospitality. I loved the camel ride, henna art, and the chance to dress in traditional attire for photos.

Avoid if you value your time

I have no idea how they still have good/high rate... If you value your time at all DO NOT GO! 1. They take you with old, small, stinking of gas/diesel bus all smushed together (like 50 people in a little bigger bus than minivan which seems is about to break any second) and the ride takes you 2 HOURS ONE WAY - which they do not tell you... 2. The safari ride is nice, but maximum 10 minutes!!! This is a joke to drive 4 hours total to get 10minutes ride! 3. Then you have 2-3 hours "free" time basically just sitting in the middle of desert not doing anything... 4. Camel ride is a joke and also the camels are angry (hitting people) and very poorly taken care... 5. Food - definitely not a barbeque and just passable quality (my stomach didn't really felt well after the food) 6. The "amazing" show is just basically 3 belly dances and one guy doing fire performance for 10 minutes 7. Sandboarding - NON EXISTENT (after 1 hour going back and forward asking about they brought to us one broken board and told to go from dune next to the place which was small and as board is all broken and scratched dis not even move from spot for anyone in the group... 8. Also the "nice" staff someone was telling about is not that nice at all just trying to rip you off on everything! Buy picture, buy soft drinks, buy camel ride basically buy everything what was supposed to be included! AVOID this tour at any cost. I have been to plenty tours but this one was the worst I ever had! Super angry I wasted the whole day for this.... 8. Soft drinks only when performances start (19:30) and it is cola and sprite mixed with water... No gas no taste...

Response from the operator: We are sorry for the bad experienced you faced. But this wasn't our company as we was not operation from 2022 to 2024 till today, 31 July.

Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dubai.

How much does Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ cost?

+

Prices start at $70 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dubai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dubai is not rushed.

Is Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 290 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dubai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ?

+

Around 102 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dubai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dubai and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Desert Safari Dubai Sand Bashing, Camel Ride, Shows, Live BBQ start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dubai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dubai?

+

On Outty we rank every Dubai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubai Premium Red Dunes Safari, Camels & 5* BBQ at Al Khayma Camp, Dubai: Red Dunes Safari, Quad, Camel, Dune Bash, BBQ & Shows, Dubai Dune Buggy Safari Tour in Red Dunes Options. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dubai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dubai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
