  4. We will do our own Private Tour of the Ancient City Walls. Derry, officially Londonderry, is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name. The old walled city lies on the west bank of the River Foyle, which is spanned by two road bridges and one footbridge. The city now covers both banks (Cityside on the west and Waterside on the east). The population of the city was 83,652 at the 2001 Census, while the Derry Urban Area had a population of 90,736. The district administered by Derry City and Strabane District Council contains both Londonderry Port and City of Derry Airport. Derry is close to the border with County Donegal, with which it has had a close link for many centuries. The person traditionally seen as the founder of the original Derry is Saint Colmcille, a holy man from Tír Chonaill, the old name for almost all of modern County Donegal, of which the west bank of the Foyle was a part before 1610. In 2013, Derry was the inaugural UK City of Culture, having been awarded the title in 2010.

  5. Peace Bridge

The Peace Bridge is a cycle and foot bridge across the River Foyle in Derry, Northern Ireland. It opened on 25 June 2011, connecting Ebrington Square with the rest of the city centre. It is the newest of three bridges in the city, the others being the Craigavon Bridge and the Foyle Bridge. The 235 metres (771 ft) bridge was designed by AECOM, who also designed the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, and Wilkinson Eyre Architects, who also designed the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.[2][3] A view of the Peace Bridge showing both sides of the river and a passing train The bridge was opened to the public by EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn; accompanied by the First and deputy First Ministers, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness; and the Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny.[4] It is intended to improve relations between the largely unionist 'Waterside' with the largely nationalist 'Cityside', by improving access between these areas, as part of wider regeneration plans. The bridge also provides a crossing over the railway line approaching Waterside station. The bridge was funded jointly by the Department for Social Development (NI), the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government along with matching funding, totalling £14 million, from the SEUPB Peace III programme.[5]

Outstanding tour and tour guide

Paula was a great tour guide. I felt like I was traveling with a friend. We enjoyed chatting with her during the tour and she was very informational and friendly. We even got to meet her husband!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much Mary. I had such a great day with yourself and Andy. Thanks for allowing me to show you around Derry/Londonderry and showcasing a part of what our beautiful country has to offer. Hope to see you both back here again real soon. It was a pleasure to meet you both. Safe travels for your journey home. Paula

Must visit if a Derry Girls fan!

I had a wonderful time at Derry. Barry m rorschach guide was a great host. He took Mr all around Derry. I'm a Derry Girls fan and always wanted to visit. There's lots of walking so wearing the right shoes is essential! Also check the weather forecast.

Response from the operator: Thanks Pallavi it was lovely to meet you and take you up to Derry to see the Derry Girls Mural and the whole of Derry! Warmest regards Barry 😀

Giants Causeway Wonders

We had an exceptional time on our Giants Causeway tour with Paula . She was friendly , knowledgeable , witty , cheerful and all around amazing . We opted for the Giants Causeway instead of Londonderry, which was a very easy switch of itinerary with Barry , who was very quick to respond and easy to work with . Paula got us to all of the sights quickly and safely , she definitely knew her stuff . Suggested a cute place for a quick bite to eat before visiting the basalt columns , and even gave us the 1 euro for the bus ride back up which was so nice so we didn’t have to walk all the way back . We stopped at the most amazing castle ruins and other magnificent view points. Look no further than to book any tour with Barry and Paula !

Response from the operator: Thanks Cory and Todd it was lovely to meet you both and show you around our beautiful country! Giants Causeway Tours is a Family run business between with a husband and wife team. Paula and Barry 😊

Absolutely Fantastic!

Our driver Barry was fantastic. We were able to hear John Kelly speak at the Bloody Sunday Museum in Derry. His brother Michael was killed that day. It was one if the most moving and memorable moments of our entire trip in Ireland. Barry went into great detail about the monuments and history of Derry- taking us to see murals and statues from the troubles. He knew his way around the town and gave great insight as to how things were and still are today. Fantastic tour that we highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thanks for the great review Meghan, it was lovely to meet you and your Canadian family and show you around the beautiful historic city of Derry! All the best Barry 😃🇨🇦🤝

Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Belfast.

How much does Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast cost?

+

Prices start at $900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Belfast usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Belfast is not rushed.

Is Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Belfast, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Belfast can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Belfast and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Derry Londonderry Private Luxury Full Day Tour From Belfast start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Belfast within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Belfast?

+

On Outty we rank every Belfast experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include A History of Terror - Belfast City Centre Walking Tour, Belfast Troubles Tour: Walls and Bridges, Giants Causeway and Castles from Belfast: Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Belfast?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Belfast?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
