Pick up time from your hotel in Cruise in Safaga by Marsa Alam tours tour guide, Then Drive to Dendera temple Arrive at Dendera at 08: 30, You will be accompanied by Egyptologist tour guide, He will explain the history of the temple . Dendera temple The Temple of Hathor was largely constructed during the Late Ptolemaic period, specifically during the reign of Ptolemy XII and Cleopatra VII. Later additions were made during the Roman period. Although built by a dynasty of rulers who were not native Egyptians themselves, the design of this temple has been found to be in accordance to that of other classical Egyptian temples, with the exception of the front of the hypostyle hall, which, according to an inscription above the entrance, was constructed by the Emperor Tiberius. Apart from these, there are also scenes in the temple complex portraying the Ptolemaic rulers. For example, carved onto the external face of one of the temple walls is a huge relief of Cleopatra VII and her son by Julius Caesar and co-ruler, Ptolemy XV (better known as Caesarion). The two Ptolemaic rulers are shown dressed in Egyptian garb, and offering sacrifices. Hathor was also regarded as a goddess of healing, and this is evident in the presence of a sanatorium in the temple complex. Here, pilgrims would come to be cured by the goddess. Sacred water (which was made holy by having it poured onto statues inscribed with sacred texts) was used for bathing, unguents were dispensed by the priests of Hathor, and sleeping quarters were provided for those hoping that the goddess would appear in their dreams, and so aid them. Drive to Abydos temple from Dendera temple Abydos temple Considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Ancient Egypt, the sacred city of Abydos was the site of many ancient temples, including Umm el-Qa'ab, a royal necropolis where early pharaohs were entombed. These tombs began to be seen as extremely significant burials and in later times it became desirable to be buried in the area, leading to the growth of the town's importance as a cult site. Today, Abydos is notable for the memorial temple of Seti I, which contains an inscription from the nineteenth dynasty known to the modern world as the Abydos King List. It is a chronological list showing cartouches of most dynastic pharaohs of Egypt from Menes until Ramesses I, Seti's father. The Great Temple and most of the ancient town are buried under the modern buildings to the north of the Seti temple. Many of the original structures and the artifacts within them are considered irretrievable and lost; many may have been destroyed by the new construction. Abyos temple Located about 2.5 hours by car north of Luxor, Abydos was one of the most important religious sites to ancient Egyptians. Much like modern Muslims hope to complete a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their lifetime, ancient Egyptians would have hopes to visit Abydos, which for them was strongly associated with the entrance into the afterlife. Although there were several temples constructed here, the largest and most significant is known as the Temple of Seti I. Seti I was the father of the great Ramesses II, who actually completed the construction of most of the temple after his father’s death. Coming to power only 30 years after the upheaval associated with Akhenaten’s heretical rule, known as the Amarna Period, Seti I was concerned with reestablishing faith in the pantheon of Pre-Amarna gods that Akhenaten had sought to destroy. As a result, the temple he built contains small chapels dedicated to each of the major gods: Ptah, Re-Harakhte, Amun-Re, Osiris, Isis, Horus, and also one to Seti himself.Much of the temple complex is no longer present, including the pylon and the first two courtyards so visitors to enter through a doorway into the hypostyle hall. Many of the wall reliefs inside are well preserved and the reliefs toward the back of the temple, completed during Seti’s reign, are considered to be among the finest in any temple throughout Egypt.Since Abydos is more difficult to reach than many sites, it is not very heavily visited. Occasionally tour buses come from the beach resorts or with loads of cruise ship passengers from the Red Sea, but it you time your visit well, you might find yourself with the temple complex to yourself. Excellent experience with Marsa Alam Tours for Sataya, Dendara and Abydos

This is a review for 2 trips done with Marsa Alam Tours. First a day trip back and forth from Marsa Alam to Sataya. Was all good. Not the fanciest bus, but the sharpest rate, a solid and fun crew on the boat and a boat that we well maintained. We had an amazing day and the luck to be swimming with 60+ dolphins. Nxt day we had arranged a car for a 2 day trip to Dendara and Abydos. The car provided was a super comfortable bus. Our 2 drivers were 2 excellent guys. Mohamed and Assem, I know you will read this, you were rockstars :). Dendara was the most speical temple we've ever been at (and we've seen many all over the world). Always subjective off course. But this was for us in any case something very special. We did NOT have a guide, took a lot of time and that was the right call. Abydos is very special too, but Dendara simply is pure beauty. We will be for sure back at both. They sit in our hearts. Dealing with Ahmed at Marsa Alam Tours was a joy. In short: Workign with this company is highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Dear petervr020 , Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and wonderful review of your experiences with us! Reading your feedback truly made our day. We are absolutely thrilled that you had such a magical time at Sataya Reef—swimming with a pod of 60+ dolphins is a bucket-list memory that few get to experience, and we are glad our boat crew and team could make it happen for you! It is also fantastic to hear that your two-day journey to Dendera and Abydos was so comfortable and meaningful. Mohamed and Assem will be absolutely delighted to hear your shout-out! They truly are rockstars, and we will be sure to pass along your kind words to them, as well as to Ahmed, who loved helping you coordinate everything. Dendera truly holds a unique, breathtaking beauty with its vibrant astronomical ceilings, and we completely agree that taking your time to absorb it without a guide can be a deeply personal and special way to experience it. Thank you for highly recommending Marsa Alam Tours. Knowing that these temples now hold a special place in your heart is the greatest reward for us. Whenever you are ready to come back and explore more of Egypt’s wonders, we will be right here waiting to welcome you again! Warmest regards, The Marsa Alam Tours Team

Well organized tour and impressive experience in Dendera and Abydos!

We booked a private 1-day trip to Dendera and Abydos from our hotel in Makadi Bay. Everything is well organized. From the drivers to the excellent Egyptian lunch. Both the temples in Dendera and Abydos were very impressive. Very powerful energy! Our guide Oussama knows a lot about the history and specials details. To be honest 1 day is not enough to fully experience all the miracles. Next time we stay one day in Dendera and one day in Abydos. NOTE: during the trip we were unpleasantly surprised with an extra 3% fee for 'banking costs'. My recommendation would be to inform clients before about all costs incurred.

Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review! We are glad you enjoyed the excellent lunch, the seamless organization, and Oussama's deep historical insights into the beautiful temples of Dendera and Abydos. We also appreciate your valuable feedback regarding the 3% banking fee. We apologize for the surprise and completely agree that transparency is key. We are updating our booking procedures to ensure all future clients are fully informed of any payment processing fees upfront. Thank you for your recommendation, and we hope to host you again for a two-day depth tour in the future!

It was a very nice trip, the driver had picked us up at 4:00 am (on time)..he was a nice guy. The Guide was also a nice person, took all the time to explain everything to us! At both temples it was also very quiet, not many tourists..

Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hurghada.

How much does Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada cost?

    +

Prices start at $229 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hurghada usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada take?

    +

Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hurghada is not rushed.

Is Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hurghada, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hurghada can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hurghada and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dendera and Abydos from Hurghada start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hurghada within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hurghada?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hurghada experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hurghada Diving Adventure one Day with two Dives Boat Trip, Hurghada to Cairo: Pyramids & Museum for First-Time Visitors, Hurghada Scuba Diving Full Day Boat Trip With Lunch & Transfer. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hurghada?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hurghada?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
