Kept the boat facing the whale

Managed to get a video of the whale only because It changed position because every time they spotted a whale they went directly at it instead of turning to the side so everyone could see the whale

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Our captains and crew follow strict guidelines for responsible whale watching and always aim to approach wildlife in a respectful manner that prioritises the animals' welfare while giving all guests the best possible viewing opportunities. However, we understand that from your perspective it may have felt difficult to get a clear view at times, and we're sorry for any frustration this caused. We're pleased that you were still able to capture a video of the whale and hope you enjoyed seeing these incredible animals in their natural environment. We truly value your comments and will share them with our team as we continuously work to improve our guests' experience on board. Thank you for joining us, and we wish you all the best in your future travels. 🐋🌊 Best regards, Reykjavik Sailors

    What an amazing...

What an amazing experience seeing the Minky whales. I will be definitely doing one of these again in the future to try and spot orcas in the wild and do the northern lights to on boat….. the only downside that I could see there is a family that got on with his disabled kid. It was okay getting him over the first ramp but couldn’t get to any of the decks because of the stairs so I just feel for them.

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed seeing the whales and that the trip inspired you to join future adventures as well. We also appreciate you raising the accessibility concern — this is valuable feedback, and we truly empathise with situations like this. We’ll be sure to pass your comments to our team as we continue working to improve inclusivity and onboard access where possible. Best regards, Reykjavik Sailors Team

Impressive, so real and big .. just like they are! Interesting for all ages, stories and facts and real sounds of the whales … 🫶

Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for your kind words! It’s always special to hear how the experience resonates with guests of all ages — especially when it feels that real and unforgettable. We’re glad you enjoyed both the sightings and the stories behind them! Best regards, Reykjavik Sailors

The boat was nice as well...

The boat was nice as well as the crew working the boat. There were many options for sitting as well as walking around the boat. Before boarding, we were told there would be rough seas and were offered a motion sickness pill at check in. Once on board, you take about a 20-30 minute drive to the bay to whale watch. While we were lucky to see whales, they did offer that if you didn’t you would get a complimentary ride to see whales at a later date. We saw quite a few whales while on board and had the benefit of our guide pointing out where in the sea you could see each whale. It was a nice excursion, but very long time at sea (2 hours).

Response from the operator: Hello, We're thrilled to read your review and appreciate your kind words about our tour. We take pride in delivering quality experiences. Your feedback motivates us to continue improving. We can't wait to have the pleasure of serving you again. Best regards Reykjavik Sailors team

Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik cost?

    +

Prices start at $57 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Deluxe Whale Watching and Whales of Iceland Exhibition Combo from Reykjavik start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
