A Wonderful Day Beyond the Cruise Port
Our family had a fantastic day exploring Marseille and the beautiful town of Aix-en-Provence. Since we had limited time before returning to our cruise ship, having transportation and the main sightseeing stops organized made everything much easier. We enjoyed seeing Notre-Dame de la Garde, with its incredible views over the city and coastline, and taking a relaxed walk around the Old Port. The trip to Aix was a lovely addition, offering a completely different atmosphere with charming streets, historic buildings, and pleasant little squares. It was nice to experience both destinations in one day without feeling that we had to plan every detail ourselves. This kind of excursion is especially worth considering for families who want to see more of the region while keeping their day manageable. A memorable day with plenty of beautiful scenery and family photo opportunities.

A very informed and well appointed tour
Our guide, Olga was outstanding and very informative. Be sure that you pay close attention as I thought we were getting private service and unfortunately, my mistake. You will be on a bus full of people. Completely beyond the tour groups control however inclement weather made the last 3 1/2 hours of the trip feel like a lifetime! The front two hours of this trip was outstanding. We really enjoyed the time in the city exploring and learning about the culture.

A Memorable Introduction to Marseille and Provence
We were looking for an excursion that would allow our family to see more than just the immediate surroundings of the cruise terminal, and the combination of Marseille and Aix-en-Provence sounded ideal. The day offered a nice variety of experiences, from the elevated views at Notre-Dame de la Garde to the lively waterfront around the Old Port. We enjoyed seeing the contrast between the coastal character of Marseille and the more traditional Provençal feel of Aix. The old streets and attractive squares in Aix made it a particularly pleasant place to explore together. Having the main transportation arranged was helpful because it allowed us to concentrate on the places we were visiting instead of worrying about connections and directions. It was a satisfying way to experience a little more of southern France in a limited amount of time. We came away with lovely memories and plenty of photographs.

Unfortunately, a disappointment
This tour was very disappointing. Olga was our tour guide and she was kind and knowledgeable, however, the first stop on our tour was Aix au Provence, which was a lovely place. She herded us through some very interesting areas and ‘dropped us off’ at a square near a market where she did her grocery shopping. We didn’t have enough time to go back to explore the area we wanted to experience further. The experiences at Vallon des Auffes and Le Vieux Port were not at all as described in the itinerary. Our final stop was Marseille, where we were taken to the center of the city and told that if we wanted to buy soap, there was a souvenir shop that had good deals and if we wanted gelato, the shop was right next door. We had 40 minutes to ‘shop’. It was definitely a tourist trap. Our guide and her assistant proceeded to sit down to visit with one another and eat gelato. The tour was not consistent with the description. Think twice before booking.

A Productive and Enjoyable Day Outside the City
I had limited time available in Marseille and wanted to experience something beyond the immediate port area. This sightseeing excursion was a convenient way to see some of the city's best-known landmarks while also visiting Aix-en-Provence in the same outing. Notre-Dame de la Garde offered excellent views and an interesting perspective on Marseille, while the Old Port gave me a chance to experience the city's everyday atmosphere. Aix added a different dimension to the day, with its historic architecture and attractive streets. I appreciated the opportunity to see several places without having to research every route and transport connection myself. It was also a welcome change from a busy work schedule, combining cultural sightseeing with time to enjoy the surroundings. A worthwhile option for business travelers with a free day or a short stay in the region.
