What you'll see and do

  1. We start our tour with Old Delhi and travel back in time to the 17th century when the city was called Shahjahanabad. Exquisite architecture and extravagance defined Delhi then and that also reflected in the cuisine that was elaborate and artful and represented the close living of many communities such as the Mughals, Kayashths, Baniyas etc.

  2. Connaught Place

We now learn how the British rule and years of partition altered the capital's culture fabric and food significantly. We learn about the influences on food during the British rule, the birth of a new cuisine of Anglo Indian food. We discuss the culinary journey of Delhi's food as we enjoy what is definitely India's most beloved beverage, which was popularised by the British.

  3. Connaught Place/Janpath

Delhi saw an overnight transformation with the partition with Muslims fleeing the city for Pakistan and arrival of Hindu refugees. Our food walk then continues with the stories of partition in iconic dishes that have today become iconic transcontinental dishes.

Delhi Private Food Tour

We were fortunate to have a wonderful private tour with Nupam, who (safely) introduced us to the street food that we had been wanting to experience but would not do on our own. She was fun to be with, and we enjoyed every moment of the tour - traveling by door, tuktuk and car to experience the deliciously spiced street foods of Delhi, as well as Msala Chai and Mango Lassi. Our tour concluded at a very nice typical restaurant, and included a rooftop overlooking the city.

An incredible day with Prateek

We were very lucky to spend our first day in India/Delhi with Prateek. His incredible knowledge of the city, history, food, and culture was extensive and interesting, and his enthusiasm was infectious. He had lots of patience for all of our questions and curiosities, and really went above and beyond to make our day unique and comfortable. Thank you Prateek!

Great day!

Cant recommend this tour ebough. We did this as 2 couples on our first day in Delhi. Delhi can be very overwhelming but after this tour with Kush (our tour guide) we understood the local streets and local culture a lot more. Kush is very knowledgeable about the food and the area. He is also very welcoming and friendly we would now regard him as a friend! If we were to visit Delhi again we would definitely book something with kush. Last note, make sure you arrive very hungry!!!

Fabulous history of Delhi told though its food

I had an absolutely fantastic tour with Priansha. She was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging and the food was amazing. More importantly, she did a great job of structuring the history of Delhi around the food so we weren’t just eating for eating’s sake. I couldn’t recommend the tour highly enough.

Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New Delhi.

How much does Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive cost?

+

Prices start at $4800 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New Delhi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive take?

+

Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New Delhi is not rushed.

Is Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New Delhi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive?

+

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New Delhi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New Delhi and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Delhi Culinary Evolution Tour: Old + New Delhi Food all inclusive start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New Delhi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in New Delhi?

+

On Outty we rank every New Delhi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Taj Mahal & Agra Private Tour By AC Car From Delhi with 5* Meal, Taj Mahal & Agra Fort Private Day Trip From Delhi with 5* Lunch, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj Day Tour from Delhi by Car. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New Delhi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New Delhi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
