Beautiful Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum!
My husband and traveled to Washington DC. We made reservations online to visit the newly opened renovated Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum. The experience was very easy. We were unable to climb the many steps to enter the Memorial. However you first check in with your online ticket across the street . You first must pick a time to visit when you book your tickets online. There was a huge line to purchase tickets that day for the Museum. However we had tickets in advance and walked right up to an easy entrance.( bypassing the huge waiting line) They have an elevator for those individuals that can’t walk the many stairs inside. We took the elevators making it easier for us to visit the museum. The tour was about 30 -35 minutes. This is a self guided tour with a very short video. We had a great experience that was really impressive and informative. The tour was free and you pay a dollar or two per person for booking online. Totally worth the time and effort it saved us. Beautiful memorial.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad the advance reservation and elevator access made your visit smooth and enjoyable. It’s wonderful to hear you found the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum both impressive and informative!

Lincoln undercroft
Very interesting and informative. Enjoyed the models of the size of his hands on the statue. Looking forward to the movie being extended.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind review! We're so glad you found the tour interesting and informative. It's great to hear you enjoyed the unique details along the way, and we hope you'll visit us again the next time you're in town!

Newlly opened Lincoln Memorial Undercroft
You must buy timed entry at Recreation.gov. There is a $1 reservation fee per person. The material is good. There are various audio languages for the displays. It was interesting to see the competing proposals for the memorial. There are ORIGINAL copies of the Emancipation Proclamation and 13th amendment. It's right to store those historic copies in subdued light and controlled climate, but it is impossible to read. I would have liked a readable copy elsewhere. AC was not very strong, especially in the museum store. Good restrooms - cool workers' graffiti in the women's restroom. At the end of the very short movie is a disclaimer that this is just a trailer. The real movie will come later. (I do not understand why the movie isn't complete. This project was announced in 2016.) I hope someone will post when movie is complete. We spent less than an hour there, including shopping.
Response from the operator: Thank you agnesh for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We're glad you enjoyed the exhibits, the multilingual audio options, and the opportunity to see these remarkable historical documents up close. We also appreciate your honest feedback about the lighting, climate control, and the unfinished film experience. Comments like yours help future visitors know what to expect. We hope you'll have the chance to return when the full film is available and enjoy even more of this meaningful experience.

Brand new
This new exhibit in the undercroft of the Lincoln memorial is a nice addition to the memorial itself. Gives you something to see and do while there. You do need timed tickets. It seems that they will be adding more things in 2027. Not a lot to see but information about the building of the memorial.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review! We're glad you enjoyed exploring the new undercroft exhibit and found it a great addition to your visit. Thank you as well for pointing out the timed-ticket requirement and the upcoming 2027 expansions—that is super helpful for future travelers. We hope to welcome you back once the new additions are complete for an even richer experience!

Good exhibit but maybe just get tickets at the site.
The under story is a nice experience and really well done. Issues with getting the tickets and not sure the guide book on phone is worth it. Might just pick up tickets at the exhibit as there were no lines to skip.
Response from the operator: Hi DETravel! Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad you enjoyed the Undercroft exhibit and found it to be a worthwhile visit. We also appreciate your honest feedback about the ticket process and mobile guidebook. Your comments help us identify ways to make the experience smoother and more valuable for future guests. We truly appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and hope to welcome you back to DC again someday!

Why this scores 42
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Washington DC.
How much does DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook cost?
+
Prices start at $19 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Washington DC usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook take?
+
Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Washington DC is not rushed.
Is DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 42 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.1/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Washington DC, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Washington DC can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Washington DC and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does DC's Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum Direct Entry & Guidebook start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Washington DC within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Washington DC?
+
Washington is the rare city where the headline attractions cost nothing and the scarce resource is access. Timed entry to the Smithsonian museums, Capitol and White House tours, and the night monument runs by bike or bus are what fill up. Our ranking rewards operators who secure the passes themselves rather than telling you to sort it out at the door. On Outty we rank every Washington DC experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Washington DC Small-Group Sightseeing Experience, Arlington Cemetery Small-Group Tour & Changing of the Guards, Washington DC "See the City" Guided Sightseeing Segway Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Washington DC?
+
Late March to April for cherry blossom, or September to November for cool museum weather. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Washington DC?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
