Great Tour!
This was an amazing tour from the moment we were picked up our hotel in Delhi, driven to the Delhi train station, where we were put on the appropriate car and guided to our seats. We were then picked up in Agra by our driver and guide Rocky, who was excellent. Rocky’s knowledge of the Taj Mahal and its rich history, as well as the Agra, Fort, and various other things pointed out on our drive-through the city, were excellent. Two thumbs up, would definitely recommend. S

This was an amazing full day tour...

This was an amazing full day tour, and when I say full day it certainly was that being picked up at 5am from the hotel and dropped back at about midnight ...made this a very long day.....but well worth it!
We were picked up and taken to the train station, escorted right to our seats! the train ride takes about 2hrs. Rocky our tour guide was at the station to meet us, we then went to the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort another fort out of town, plus lunch and visiting shops and markets in Agra. If you have only a day this is the tour to do! Recommended!

Very well organised with professionals managing each step of the journey to Agra and back. Our guide in Agra, Rajesh, was very knowledgeable and gave us a good balance of history and great sights. Overall the tour surpassed our expectations - great day out

First, it's probably partially my...

First, it's probably partially my fault for booking a tour that's so long hotel pickup at 5am, planned dropoff at midnight. It would have been a brutally long day if we had completed the entire thing.

But that said, by lunchtime, the guide let me know that we were ahead of schedule, and he planned to be done by 4pm, which would leave me 5.5 hours waiting for my train back to Delhi. I ended up paying the driver to take me back to Delhi by car it cost 95 rather than waiting so long for the train. Overall, the scheduling issues left a very bad taste for me.

Even beyond the scheduling problems, this tour didn't live up to the high expectations I have developed for Viator tours. The guide was very nice and friendly, but he was a little difficult to understand and didn't seem as knowledgeable as past guides I've had. The logistics of hotel pickup, train dropoff, and meeting the guide were needlessly complicated. There were 5 people involved, and I felt like I kept getting handed over to someone different.

As with many of these tours, there is a shopping component which involves them taking you around to handicraft shops where the owners try to get you to buy stuff. It's a mixed bag in terms of how much pressure there is to buy, but I get tired of saying no to people over and over again. I wanted to sightsee, not deal with pressured shopping situations.

Taj Mahal was absolutely incredible, well worth the trip alone. Agra fort was interesting since you're already in the area, but couldn't hold a candle to the Taj Mahal. I intentionally selected a tour involving Fatehpur Sikri based on a friend's recommendation. It's an interesting place, but it is REALLY far out of the way. It ends up adding 3-4 hours to the trip. I think it would be worth seeing if you were in Agra for a few days, but for a single-day trip I wish I had chosen a half-day tour of just Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Your mileage may vary.

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New Delhi.
How much does Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train cost?
+
Prices start at $108 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New Delhi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train take?
+
Plan for about 14 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New Delhi is not rushed.
Is Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New Delhi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 14-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New Delhi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New Delhi and add a light layer if any part of the 14-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Day Trip to The Taj Mahal and Agra from Delhi by Train start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New Delhi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New Delhi?
+
On Outty we rank every New Delhi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Taj Mahal & Agra Private Tour By AC Car From Delhi with 5* Meal, Taj Mahal & Agra Fort Private Day Trip From Delhi with 5* Lunch, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj Day Tour from Delhi by Car. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New Delhi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New Delhi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
