Turtles, dolphins, and mantas!

Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Comfortable boat ride, excellent guide. We started by drifting through some of the healthiest coral I have seen, with several turtles along the way. At the next location, we had the pleasure of being circled closely by a pod of dolphins. At our third location, we had to be patient, but eventually two mantas showed up at the cleaning station.

We're glad we snorkeled off Nusa Penida, but this tour might not be for everyone.

We loved two of the three sites where we snorkeled on this trip. The third was too deep and choppy for a great snorkeling experience. This was probably because the outing was mainly designed for scuba divers -- six of them and only two of us. While we are perfectly happy to snorkel independently, it might not be an experience that appeals to uncertain swimmers, as we were dropped off in rather deep water with a "babysitter" while the boat took off with the divers to an area further away and then came back about an hour later to pick us up. The lunch for vegetarians was much better than I expected. The crew was definitely not into conducting a tour for tourists. They were there to facilitate and/or teach scuba diving. They were constantly laughing and joking among themselves. One of them joked in a language other than English about "US dollars" as he looked at us. We tipped our "babysitter" because he kindly loaned my husband his better snorkel and mask than the one that was provided by the tour. Although an approaching storm prohibited us from visiting the Manta site, we enjoyed the snorkeling anyway, as we have seen Mantas close up and personal on the Big Island of Hawaii. We chose this tour because it provided hotel pick up and drop off, and I would do it again, but if you need hand-holding, this is not the tour for you.

Excellent dive shop in Bali! I enjoyed my experience with them.

If you’re looking to dive in Bali definitely check out the Bali Diving Academy shop! They have multiple shops on the island and I visited their shop in Sanur by Denpasar. I chose the dive day trip to Nusa Penida where we dove at 3 sites - SD Point, Crystal Bay, and Manta Point and had a great time. The shop offered me transport from my resort in Ubud to the shop and back, the pick up in the morning was at 6:15 am. A big thank you to our lead diver Adi and his supporting cast for leading us on this dive day trip, his briefings were clear and he made sure we had fun and were safe throughout our dives. Also a big thank you to my drivers who drove me from my resort to the shop and back, the drive was long about 1.5 hours and the traffic didn’t make it easier so a big thank you to them once again. Definitely check out the Bali Diving Academy shop if you’re looking to dive in Bali, I had a great time with them and I highly recommend them! - Nolan

Response from the operator: Thanks for the detailed review, Nolan! We’re so glad you enjoyed your dives with Adi and the team, and we’ll pass your kind words along to our drivers too. It means a lot that you recommend us, and we’d love to welcome you back for more Bali adventures.

Turtles, coral and fish everywhere! Paradise!

Excelente service, kind people starting with the guides and driver. Rai always was near me and they helped me get into the water without jumping. All very kind. The snorkeling was indescribable beautiful: we saw turtles, al kind of candy color fish, and the most gorgeous array of colorful coral. Blessed with the best weather and crystal clear visibility.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive experience with our team, from the guides to the driver. It’s great to know that Rai was there to assist you, ensuring you felt comfortable getting into the water. The snorkeling sounds absolutely breathtaking—witnessing turtles, vibrant fish, and stunning coral must have been unforgettable, especially with such perfect weather and visibility. We hope to welcome you back for more underwater adventures in the future!

Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuta.

How much does Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali) cost?

+

Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali) take?

+

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuta is not rushed.

Is Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali) worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kuta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali)?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali) suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali)?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuta and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Day Trip snorkeling Nusa Penida - Manta 3 sites (from south bali) start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kuta?

+

On Outty we rank every Kuta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include East Bali Tour: Gate of Heaven, Water Palace, Sleeping Gajah, Ubud Day Tour: Sacred Monkey Forest, Tegenungan Waterfall, Rice Terrace, Bali 5 Days and 4 Nights Private Tour - Best and Famous Site. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kuta?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kuta?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
