What a fantastic day! From the very start, this “Day Tour as a Fisherman in the Mangroves and Mud Bath” in Cartagena delivered an unforgettable experience. Our guide was passionate, knowledgeable and genuinely excited to show us the mangrove ecosystem, local fishing techniques and the hidden mud-bath spot. We set off through the lush mangroves with comfortable transport, reached a calm fishing area and were able to try our hand at real local methods. The guide patiently taught us how to cast nets and explained how the ecosystem supports sustainable fishing it felt immersive and authentic. After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a delicious freshly caught lunch by the water with stunning views. Then the highlight: the mud bath! Slathering on the mineral-rich mud, floating gently and laughing together … it was fun, relaxing and a true “off the beaten path” moment. What stood out was the blend of adventure and tranquility. The whole team looked out for our comfort and safety, and at the same time let us feel like explorers discovering something truly special about the Cartagena coast. We left feeling refreshed, enriched and with memories that won’t fade. If you’re looking for a day tour that goes beyond standard sightseeing one that mixes nature, culture, hands-on fun and relaxation this one is absolutely worth it. Five stars all the way!

A trio of a lifetime
A Trip of a Lifetime! Our experience with Isaac and Alejandro was absolutely unforgettable. From start to finish, this tour was a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and genuine human connection. We spent the day out on the water fishing with local fishermen, learning their techniques and stories, and then returned to a local family’s home where we were treated to one of the most magnificent seafood dinners I’ve ever had — fresh, authentic, and made with so much love. The evening turned into a celebration — dancing, drumming, and sharing laughter with extraordinary local musicians. It felt like being invited into the heart of the community, not just visiting it. Isaac and Alejandro went above and beyond to make every moment meaningful. Their warmth, professionalism, and deep connection to the local culture made this not just a trip, but an experience that will stay with us forever. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough — it was truly the trip of a lifetime.

How far in advance should I book Day Tour as a Fisherman in the Mangroves and Mud Bath?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cartagena can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cartagena and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
+
On Outty we rank every Cartagena experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historic Center & Getsemaní Shared Tour in Cartagena, Cartagena VIP Boat Tour: Rosario Islands & Snorkel, Cartagena Antigua & Barrio Getsemani group with audio system. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cartagena?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cartagena?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
