What you get

    About this experience

Discover Saigon's mysterious side after dark — funeral customs, temple beliefs, urban ghost stories and old Chinatown — told by a local guide who knows the city's secrets. A completely different experience from a normal city tour. As night falls, ride pillion through Saigon and into its spiritual, spooky and superstitious side: the Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda, a traditional funeral house, a building locals whisper about, and the atmospheric streets of Chinatown. Your English-speaking guide brings it all to life with real beliefs, customs and eerie local legends — plus a coffee or juice stop and a late-night bánh mì. This is not a jump-scare ghost hunt — it's a fascinating, story-rich journey into what Vietnamese people actually believe about death, luck and the spirit world. Travelers love it as one of the most unique and memorable nights of their trip. Small, private and personalized. Best enjoyed in the evening. Safe and easy for first-time riders.

A wonderful and deeply personal way to discover Saigon

We had a fantastic private motorbike tour of Saigon with our guide, Vincent Always Happy, and his teammate Kien. The company arranged the tour for us very much at the last minute and were incredibly flexible, which we really appreciated. Vincent and Kien took us around the city to see many of the major sights, including the Central Post Office, Independence Palace, the Opera House, the War Remnants Museum, and the famous Café Apartments. The most special part of the tour was visiting the school my father attended in the early 1950s. Being able to see it in person made the experience deeply personal and emotional for me, and I am very grateful that Vincent and Kien were so willing to adapt the route and make this possible. Exploring Saigon from the back of a motorbike was exciting and gave us a much more immediate feeling for the city than travelling by car or bus. Vincent truly lived up to his name—he was cheerful, friendly, and enthusiastic throughout the tour. Kien was equally kind and attentive, and both of them made us feel comfortable and safe in the busy Saigon traffic. This was a memorable and very personal experience, and we would happily recommend the tour to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and heartfelt review! We are very happy that Vincent and Kien could help create such a personal and meaningful experience for you in Saigon, especially with the visit to your father’s former school. Our team truly appreciates your trust, your kind words, and your recommendation. We hope to welcome you again on another Toward Local experience soon!

Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.

How much does Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC cost?

    +

Prices start at $16 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.

Is Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC?

    +

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Dark Saigon by Motorbike: Urban Legend & Midnight Culture in HCMC start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
