    Fantastic tour, will book again!

We had a fantastic wildlife tour with guide George today, around Reserva Curi Cancha, Monteverde! Highly recommend this tour - they have high-end equipment, George took excellent photos for us, and he worked super hard to make sure we saw tons of birds, monkeys, etc. He was also great with our 4 year old daughter, engaging and entertaining her!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a true pleasure sharing the magic of Curi Cancha with your family. We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the experience and that George could help you spot so much wildlife while capturing special memories through the telescope. Hearing that your 4-year-old daughter felt engaged and had fun throughout the tour means a lot to us. We believe that inspiring curiosity and a love for nature at a young age is one of the greatest parts of what we do. Thank you for your recommendation and for choosing George of the Cloud Forest. We hope to welcome your family back to Monteverde for another unforgettable adventure in the future!

    George was a wonderful...

George was a wonderful guide. He brought binoculars for the entire group (most don’t!) and worked hard to find us birds to see. It had been raining at the beginning of the tour and he stayed about an hour late with us because the weather had cleared up at the end of the tour. George has an amazing ability to mimic bird sounds and actually fooled the bird app on our phone!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! It was a pleasure sharing the forest with you. George truly enjoys helping guests connect with Monteverde’s incredible birdlife, and he’ll be delighted to know you appreciated the binoculars, the extra time after the rain, and, of course, his bird calls! It’s always a great compliment when even a bird identification app gets fooled. We appreciate you choosing George of the Cloud Forest and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future. Every visit to the cloud forest brings new wildlife encounters waiting to be discovered. Safe travels!

Outstanding bird watching tour- George is king of the forest!

We had a great guide in George. He was very knowledgeable and was eager to find the birds and wildlife to show us. We were fortunate to see a male and female Great Curassow - in this case, the female was much prettier than the male, a 3 wattle bellbird, toucanet and many others. He was cautious of our pace given some limitations and checked in often. We really enjoyed our guided tour and would highly recommend him.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience with George! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the tour and had such special wildlife sightings — including both a male and female Great Curassow, the incredible Three-wattled Bellbird, and a toucanet. Encounters like these are what make the cloud forest so magical. George truly loves sharing the forest with guests, and it means a lot to hear that his knowledge, patience, and attentiveness helped make the experience comfortable and memorable for you. We believe nature should be enjoyed at a pace that works for everyone, so we’re especially happy you felt well cared for throughout the walk. Thank you again for the recommendation — we hope to welcome you back to the cloud forest for more unforgettable wildlife moments in the future!

    Wonderful tour worth every penny!

Vinny was our guide. He was so passionate about the birds and plants. We saw so many reclusive species of birds that normally were deeper in the forest. Hummingbirds, larger ground birds and even a sloth were there. He knew how to do dozens of bird calls and knew where to find different birds by their calls. Must do.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a great experience with Vinny. His passion for birds and plants truly makes every tour special, and his ability to recognize calls and locate even the most reclusive species is something our guests always appreciate. It sounds like you had an incredible morning with a wide variety of sightings—from hummingbirds and ground birds to even a sloth! Moments like these are what make the forest so magical. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back again for another unforgettable birding adventure

The best guided tour in the Curicancha Reserve.

My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to do 2 guided tours with George in Curicancha - with no other guests. After our first tour, we immediately booked another with him. These two guided tours were the highlight of our 2 week trip to Costa Rica!, and I say that from experience (we did many during our trip). George is very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife there, and it is really infectious, so much so that Curicancha became our favourite reserve too. He obviously knows every square inch of that place and if you want to have the best chance of seeing wildlife in Curicancha, you’ll be in the best of hands with him. He speaks excellent English too and made sure the tour focused on what we wanted to see and experience. Don’t think you can ask more from a guide really - the rest is just luck and which animals etc. happen to be there on the day…….we saw everything on our wish list, bar one. Finally, when all the other guides are asking George where to find a particular bird etc. you know you are with the best guide. Need I say more? Don’t miss out on this experience, is my advice…..I can confidently say you won’t regret it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such an incredible and thoughtful review! We’re truly honored to hear that your experiences with George in Curi-Cancha Reserve were the highlight of your entire trip to Costa Rica—that means a lot to us. George will be absolutely thrilled to read your words. His passion, deep knowledge of the reserve, and ability to connect with guests really do make each tour special, and it’s wonderful to hear how that translated into such memorable experiences for you both. The fact that you came back for a second tour says it all! We also love that you pointed out how other guides rely on him—that’s truly one of the best compliments he could receive. And of course, nature always has an element of luck, but we’re so glad you were able to see almost everything on your wish list. Thank you again for your trust, your recommendation, and for choosing to explore with us. We hope to welcome you back someday for even more unforgettable moments in the forest

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Monteverde?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Monteverde?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
