Incredible trip-some info here might be helpful to others

First of all, Cuenca was well worth a visit. It is absolutely stunning. This was a good way to see it on a short trip. You meet them at 8:30 in Retiro and get dropped back at around 12 hours later. No car rentals, train tickets, different hotels etc. The coach is air conditioned and has chargers at each double seat. They should mention that to folks. You see a couple of sights before Cuenca. Both are beautiful natural wonders, and are also worth seekng. The tour I was on was bilingual English/Spanish. This led to some very lengthy pauses where things were explained x2. Because of that we spent too long in the Enchanted City and got to Cuenca itself at 3. This was unfortunate-better to make the enchanted city portion shorter, especially in the summer heat. The tour guide recommended a particular restaurant in Cuenca. What he might consider mentioning is that it has air conditioning, unlike any of the others. We hoped to find a quicker eat, were unsuccessful, and my daughter almost had heatstroke. We ended up going to that restaurant anyway, so just go with the group. That also left us with only an hour and a half to see Cuenca, so we could not enter any of the historic buildings or museums. Overall this was a five star trip and a five star day. The guide, Sergi, was wonderful-very funny and engaging and worked hard to engage the teens on the trip.

    A perfect day out!

Probably our best day in Spain !! Absolutely stunning scenery, beautiful historical town and an excellent guide who also pointed us in the direction of a lovely restaurant.

    Walking tour

Be prepared to walk more than 3km and climb and lower stairs. Lots of history and if you come in summer will be hot

Response from the operator: Hi, We're sorry the experience wasn't quite what you expected. Honestly, walking over 3 km in an 11-hour tour doesn't seem excessive to us, and we don't really believe there are that many stairs. Regarding the heat, it's true that Spain is hot in the summer, but in Cuenca, it's always 4-6 degrees cooler than in Madrid, so our tour is a great way to escape the city's sweltering heat. Thank you so much for coming.

I want to give this tour...

I want to give this tour 5 stars because the places we visited were so different and exciting and Sergi is an amazing guide with great personality, but time management was definitely an issue. We arrived back in Madrid about 45 min late, not because of traffic but because there was no pressure on those who would arrive late to our meeting points. I just wish they would've considered those of us considerate enough to arrive on time had planned a day with an expectation to arrive in Madrid on time ..and if late, with a reasonable cause.

Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.

How much does Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid cost?

    +

Prices start at $54 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid take?

    +

Plan for about 11 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.

Is Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 109 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 11-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid?

    +

Around 38 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Cuenca and the Enchanted City Full Day Tour from Madrid start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Madrid?

    +

On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Madrid?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Madrid?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
