Cu Chi Tunnels
This is an area where Vietnamese people proudly held their ground during the Vietnam war (in Vietnam it is known as The American War). Over 200kms of underground tunnels were made, the trip will help you understand the struggle the Vietnamese would have gone through on the frontline. It took an enormous amount of ingenuity, courage and imagination to match the enemy and these tunnels were a big part of the Vietnam War and ended being a resounding victory for the Cu Chi people. The tunnel system, fortifications and trenches were a part of a soldiers life, you will see how they lived, the kitchens, store rooms, hospital, living quarters. You can crawl around parts of the tunnel yourself and watch a video of the history of the Vietnam War in this area.

Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple Adventure
A great tour to experience the many aspects of the Cai Dai religion as well as a thorough exposure to the many tactical and strategic challenges faced by soldiers during the Vietnam War and the effective use of vast tunnel warfare complexes.

An excellent trip
An excellent enjoyable and informative trip. Laren was a great guide- helpful and very knowledgeable about both the Cu Chi tunnels and Cao Dai temple. We learnt a great deal and had a super time. Laren looked after us well and took photos which we appreciated.

A Great Get-Away
The trip was excellent! Our tour guide Danny was very informative all throughout our journey out of Saigon. The temple was beautiful, and we even got to see part of a funeral service; the tunnels were fascinating, especially with the meaningful historical insight provided throughout. Highly recommended.

Great personalised private tour
Our guide Tai was knowledgeable about the Vietnam war as well as the Cao Dai religion, and was engaging. He was professional and respectful of other tours going on around as well. It was nice to have this private tour as we had full control of the pace and what we did. He did not bring us to any souvenir shops. The car provided was clean, comfortable and well kept. It was a MG, SUV. The driver drove in a safe manner throughout the entire journey. The lunch provided was ok, each person was given a small bowl of rice noodles with beef slices, stir fried vegetables (to share), 2 pieces of deep fried spring rolls filled with vegetables, 1 steamed river prawn, local curry chicken (to share), 1-2 grilled sausages, and a big bowl of rice (to share). It was not spectacular, but it was not bad as well.

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ho Chi Minh City.
How much does Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day cost?
+
Prices start at $108 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ho Chi Minh City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ho Chi Minh City is not rushed.
Is Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ho Chi Minh City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ho Chi Minh City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple private tour full day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ho Chi Minh City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
On Outty we rank every Ho Chi Minh City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adventure Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Tour From HCM, Cu Chi Tunnels Small-Group Tour: Vietnam War Underground Network, Cu Chi underground tour - Learn Vietnam war with others. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ho Chi Minh City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
