Waimea Botanical Gardens, Oahu

Dole Plantation
In 1899, James Dole, just 22 years old, moved to Honolulu from Massachusetts and purchased 64 acres of land in the central plains of Oahu. After trying several experimental crops, he settled on pineapple. This was the beginning of the pineapple empire. Dole created two canneries in Wahiawa and Honolulu Harbor and started advertising, resulting in nationwide consumer popularity. After bringing in automatic pineapple peelers, business boomed even greater. In 1950, a small fruit stand was created in Dole’s fields. A plantation-style home was erected in 1989 and turned into an archive and living museum, honoring the work and life of James Dole. Please understand you will not have time to ride the Train or get in the Maze. The lines are long and this stop is only for 30 minutes.

King Kamehameha Statue
A great warrior, diplomat and leader, King Kamehameha I united the Hawaiian Islands into one royal kingdom in 1810 after years of conflict. Kamehameha’s unification of Hawaii was significant not only because it was an incredible feat, but also because under separate rule, the islands may have been torn apart by competing western interests. Today, four commissioned statues stand to honor King Kamehameha I, Hawaii’s first king. The most recognized Kamehameha statue stands in front of Aliiolani Hale (home to the Hawaii State Supreme Court) across from Iolani Palace and a short walk from historic Kawaiahao Church and the State Capitol. Capt Vince is the BEST guide ever!!
Can’t Vince is absolutely amazing! Fun and full of info not on your typical tour. We saw so many unique places and got in and out of places before the big tour buses He was a delight for sure. Take this tour He even changed the time so we would be sure to get everything in and be back to the ship with no worries.

Captain Vince
Captain Vince is a great tour guide. He explains sites as we approach and walks with the group showing where to look and take pictures. This is not done by other drivers. It shows he wants us to have a great experience. Also talks about the Hawaiian language by repeating the words. I highly recommend this tour.

A Must To Do in Oahu!
Some minor setbacks leading to rescheduling our tour and staying longer than needed due to circumstances beyond control but nonetheless a good time! Our guide, Justin, was amazing! We really loved how he tried to create a relationship with each guest due to how small groups are. We visited great landmarks, learned some history , listened to great Hawaiian radio, and had good quality chats with everyone. 10/10 would recommend as the main goal on every stop was to beat crowds and avoid lines :)

The older lady in the group fell at the last stop and the group had to wait for the E.M.T a lenthy time. She literally broke her Femur Bone. The long wait at the Dole Plantation was beyond our control. We seem to think we are better than 3 Stars! We put alot into what we do and its not easy from coordinating and communicating with every guest on pick up's and details of the Tour as well as talking and driving for over 9 hours a day and 7 days a week. We Pride ourselves on being the best and will continue to strive to give 5 Star Service. Thank You, Captain Vince
