Bird and monkey sanctuary with amazing horseback riding all in one tour!!!

This experience was truly an experience and a fabulous way to try something different than the vibrancy of the old city! We started off by having breakfast which was egg and plantains. The we went over to make breakfast for the birds in the sanctuary. We cut up beautiful fruits to feed to the parrots. Then we went into the bird enclosures that hold the birds that are being rehabilitated before they can be released back into the wild and learned about the illegal bird trade. So it was fabulous to see how this sanctuary is helping to rehabilitate the birds and release them back into the wild. Then we took an ATV ride to see the endangered monkeys! They were adorable and so small! Next we took an ATV ride to the horses to go horseback riding. The horses were amazing! They were extremely sweet and very obedient. We lead a heard of cows to another area for about 30 to 40 minutes which was very fun. This horseback riding experience was great because you're actually riding the horse and controlling it. It doesn't just follow the other horse in front of it. While it could, you truly get the experience of actually riding. Next we took the ATV around the property to find the macaws that have been released and fly around the property. It was absolutely beautiful to see them fly around us freely! Lastly we took the ATV back to have some refreshing fruit and a delicious drink. Our tour guide was Corina and she was absolutely amazing! Very kind, knowledgeable, you can tell she truly loves all the animals! This is a must do tour for anyone visiting Cartagena!

What should I bring or wear?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cartagena?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cartagena?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
