7. Estatua a Mohamed Al-Gafequi

   Mohamed Al-Gafequi, an Andalusian physician born in Córdoba in 1126, was renowned for his expertise in ophthalmology during the medieval era. He made significant advances in cataract surgery, perfecting techniques that had a lasting impact on the field. Al-Gafequi's contributions extend to detailed studies of the anatomy of the eye and eye diseases, making him a central figure in the history of medicine and ophthalmology.

8. The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Córdoba is housed in the historic building that was formerly the Hospital of Cardinal Salazar. Over time, it evolved from a medical institution to a center of higher learning. Since its establishment in 1971 as a University College under the University of Seville, and then as a Faculty in the new University of Córdoba in 1973, the building has become an important educational and cultural landmark. It underwent expansions and renovations in the 1990s to accommodate new academic programs such as Art History, Humanities, and later Translation and Interpretation. Today it stands as a blend of historic architecture and modern academic facilities, contributing to the academic heritage of Córdoba.
