What you'll see and do

  1. Coral Island

Coral Island, known locally as Koh Hae or Ko He, is a beautiful getaway destination around 3 km southeast of Phuket. The island has 2 main beaches: Long Beach and Banana Beach. Snorkelling off Banana Beach is a thrilling experience. If you go out far enough from Long Beach, you'll also have a lot to discover at its impressive coral reef. The island is beautifully calm at night but can get quite busy during the day. Peace and quiet can be found at the extremities of both beaches.

  2. Ko Racha Yai

Closest to Phuket is Racha Yai. The island is mostly inhabited by muslim farmers and fishermen. This island is also where all the accommodation is located. The main beach, on the island’s northwest coast, is Ao Tawan Tok (also known as Ao Bungalow), which is located in a u-shaped bay. The sand here is snow white and has the consistency of talcum powder. There are a few bungalow resorts and restaurants located here, including the 5-star The Racha.

    120 minutes here

  3. Ko Racha Noi

A little to the south of Racha Yai is its smaller twin, Racha Noi. This island is uninhabited and has more rocks than beaches. There is a small bay on its west coast that is a favourite spot for fishing, but apart from diving there is little else to do here.

great experience with I asia thailand

We booked this with Viator. On time pickup by the driver. Thanks to I Asia Thailand , it was the best island tour we have ever had. A light breakfast arranged at the speedboat station ,clean & hygienic toilets, a funny guide and unlimited supply of water & soft drinks . We got a chance to snorkel twice (45 minutes each) - one a coral island and one just before Raya island. When we arrived Racha - there is a beautiful resort on this beautiful small island .Great Lunch on a Beach front restaurant of the resort. Then we had almost 1 & half hour by ourselves . Racha is white sand & green clean water beach. On our return the guide surprised us with fruits & soft drinks again. We enjoyed every moment of this tour. We also booked the airport transfer to our hotel which was great as their prices are half of a taxi at the Airport

Response from the operator: Dear daniellapump, The Coral Island and Racha Island Tour is very popular with visitors to Phuket and has been successfully operating for quite a long time. So it is pretty much a forgone conclusion that when booking the full day trip to the islands by speedboat with Viator you are assuring yourself a great day. Also, thank you very much for booking our Airport to Hotel & vv transfers. True, you did not buy the cheapest but we have not compromised our vehicle standards, customer service or safety in providing you with a transfer that is still very affordable. Dismal Snorkeling and Island Experience

Avoid this tour from Phuket. We were picked up at 8:00 am at our hotel and taken to what I can only describe as a holding pen where we remained for well over an hour. English language skills of the staff were almost non-existent so it was difficult to figure out what was going on. The tour included masks and snorkles but not fins. The masks and snorkles were cheap and permitted only minimal adjustment. UNSATISFACTORY. We were taken to Siam Bay on Racha Island for snorkeling. Much of the coral is dead (virtually all of the "antler" coral is dead on the sea floor). We did see a fair variety of fish. This lasted only about 45 minutes. We were then dropped on a poor swimming beach with inadequate facilities of every kind to handle the hordes of tourists. Shade was at a premium and I do not think there was any air conditioned location available. Again the staff on the boat speaks almost no English so communication was limited. After this, we were taken to Coral island for lunch. I was not expecting much, but the food still managed to be below expectations. The food was set out in a miserably hot palapa and the flies had gotten there first. They ran out of the chicken in minutes and they agreed to make more only when a few people made a big fuss. We had nearly 3 hours to spend on this island which also had inadequate facilities for the numbers of people. Over-priced drinks were available at nearby stands. Neither swimming nor snorkeling was appealing. After 40 years of travel, this was one of the worst tourist experiences I have ever had.

Response from the operator: Dear 1Rahhalatan, Thanks for your review and here are my comments. You were brought to a central meeting point to join other guests as you booked a tour sharing with other passengers. I am sorry that you had to wait for the other passengers to join. Fins were never advertised or mentioned this would be included. I am sorry you did not see as much Coral but I am sure you appreciate this is well beyond our control but its great you did see a lot of fish. For the food, I am sorry to hear with your frustrations and I have passed this to the team there to improve this in the future. As you can appreciate, drinks and extra charges are well out of our control as the beach sellers are all independent and I am afraid that their pricing is out of our control again. As i spoke to the rep this morning, we need your name and booking number to investigate this fully, however for the past 7 days there have been no complaints made so would be grateful if you can send us further details. Thank you, Nick

Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phuket.

How much does Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion cost?

+

Prices start at $1700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phuket usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phuket is not rushed.

Is Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phuket, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 4. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phuket can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phuket and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Coral Island & Racha Island Speedboat Excursion start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phuket within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Phuket?

+

On Outty we rank every Phuket experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Southern Flavors Phuket Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, James Bond Island by Big Boat w/ Sea Cave Canoeing and Lunch, Phang Nga Bay Canoeing & James Bond Island Tour from Phuket. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Phuket?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Phuket?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
