Well worth it!

We partook in the evening cookery class with Mr Singh and his chef. This was a highlight of our trip and our teenage son was really looking forward to this experience. We first set off to the vegetable and spice markets so learn about the foods used in our dishes and where they came from, negotiating the Jaipur traffic which was an experience in itself! We then took a short Tuk Tuk ride back to the homestay, where we cooked up dishes and then partook in a meal of our dishes. This was a really insightful and pleasant evening which we enjoyed immensely.

Amazing cooking class - so much more than just that, it was a truly memorable evening that we'll never forget!

An incredible cooker experience with Mr Singh! He went out of his way to make us comfortable, and we had an amazing evening learning how to cook various breads and curries. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly and then taken to the local vegetable & spice market. Our host kindly helped us purchase some spices to take home too! Then when back we settled near a traditional fire, to enjoy drinks and make bread. We each had a go, which was a lot of fun. After that we watched an amazing puppet show from local artists, then enjoyed a amazing cooking class where we made several dishes. Afterwards we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor with our host, and had a lovely evening learning more about the history of the area, the house and his family. Truly a great experience that we couldnt recommend more highly. A memory we will take with us forever!

Cooking class and dinner

We had booked this class and had no idea what was really behind it. Meeting Durga and his son and being part of their 118 year household in the middle of Jaipur was just awesome. We are quite experienced cooks, including doing many curries over time, but got some real tips that made so much sense and added real value to our skills. Upside was the meal with a few drinks which are included, particularly being able to share it with Durga and his stories. Thanks for the experience Durga, highly recommend to all.

Cooking class was such a wonderful experience!

Unfortunately we did not stay here, but were lucky enough to participate in a cooking class hosted by the lovely Ushu Singh and her charming daughter. It was an incredible way to spend an evening. Not too good for the waistline though ;)

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Cooking Class with Lunch or Dinner at Dera Mandawa - Jaipur?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Jaipur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Jaipur and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Jaipur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Jaipur?

+

On Outty we rank every Jaipur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Sunrise Taj Mahal Tour from Delhi By Car -All inclusive, Private Jaipur Full One Day Tour In Pink City With Guide, Private Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing Tour By Tuk Tuk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Jaipur?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Jaipur?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
