At the Monographic Museum of Conímbriga, we will discover a wide collection of mosaics, sculptures, coins and numerous domestic and agricultural utensils. Outside where the excavations took place, we will visit the aristocratic houses, and all of public buildings. We go back in time with over 2,000 years of history. After the visits, we return to Coimbra.

Excellent Roman ruins and a very generous guide.
The e-bike ride was a surprise for my wife, and at the last minute she chickened out of it (she hasn't been on a bike in 30 years!). Instead of cancelling, the guide generously offered to take us to the Conimbriga ruins by car. The ruins and museum are worth visiting, we spent about 2 hours in the whole place. Shouldn't be mised.

Great afternoon! Interesting site
We enjoyed our time with Xavier (sp) and learning about the ruins. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. We were thrilled with the bonus stop at Rabacal for wine and cheese - a highlight for sure! Thank you Xavier for all the insights you shared and making it a fun outing!

Springs of living water - Conimbriga
This was the highlite of our trip to Portugal. To imagine being in a first century city of such wealth that endured for four centuries and that ended with such a heroic and massive defence. The mosaic floors were dazzling and the extensive garden fountain still working after all these centuries was a marvel. Alfredo was the most knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. He engages with the people working at the museums and at the archeological site.

A highlight of our stay in Coimbra!
Xavier is a marvelous guide with a wealth of local knowledge of the region. We drove through beautiful countryside and charming villages to see the unique limestone caves of Buracas of Casmilo. Xavier bought us an espresso and treated us with local cheese at the village of Rabaçal before we headed to the Conímbriga Roman Ruins. Xavier brought alive, through fascinating facts and stories, the history of this impressive archaeological site. We highly recommend this tour! Ellen and Ryan, Canada
