Fun spooky stories you won’t hear on any other tour! Thanks Ben!
We had an excellent time on our tour, Ben was our guide for both, and I learned so many spooky stories and facts walking through Rome, things we passed by multiple times on the trip and didn’t even notice! The crypt was so fascinating and beautiful, not at all what I expected. We aware; if you book the combo tour it is a lot of walking, so make sure you’re prepared for that. They do sell them separately too if you don’t think you can walk that long, our tour finished after 10pm. We loved it though!
Response from the operator: Thank you, Jordyn. We’re so glad you enjoyed the Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome’s Dark Side Ghost Tour with Ben. Rome does hide its best stories in plain sight, which seems unnecessarily smug of it. Delighted the crypt surprised you in the best way. And yes, the combo is a long walk, but then so is most worthwhile suffering.

Spook + History
Such a fun way to kick off our first night in Rome! The guide, Arielle, was a fantastic story teller and so knowledgeable. The tour was a great combo of spook and city history. We got a little lost on our way to the tour, and she kindly caught us up once we connected with the group. Definitely suggest leaving WAY before you think you need to in Rome, just for everything.
Response from the operator: Thank you, Julie. We’re delighted you enjoyed the Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome’s Dark Side Ghost Tour with Arielle. Spook and history is exactly the balance we aim for. We’re also glad she could catch you up once you found the group. Rome does like to test people before rewarding them, usually through directions.

A Hauntingly Memorable Night in Rome
The Combination Capuchin Crypts and Ghost storytelling tour in Rome was an unforgettable experience and a completely unique way to see the city after dark. Our guide, Mary, was exceptional. She brought Rome to life in a way that felt immersive, atmospheric, and genuinely captivating. Her storytelling was the highlight of the entire tour—she had a way of weaving history, mystery, and just the right amount of suspense to keep everyone fully engaged from start to finish. Visiting the Capuchin Crypts was both fascinating and haunting, and Mary provided thoughtful context that made the experience even more meaningful. As we moved through the city, her ghost stories added an extra layer of intrigue, making familiar streets feel mysterious and full of hidden history. If you’re looking for something beyond the typical sightseeing tour, this is absolutely worth it. Mary’s storytelling alone makes it a must-do experience in Rome
Response from the operator: Thank you, Ken. We’re delighted you enjoyed the Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome’s Dark Side Ghost Tour with Mari. The crypts are memorable enough on their own, but it’s always pleasing when the storytelling manages to compete with several rooms full of arranged bones. We’re so glad the evening felt immersive, atmospheric, and distinct from the usual sightseeing routine. Rome after dark does have a habit of improving, or at least becoming more honest.

Awesome tour and very...
Awesome tour and very informative! Felt like we saw so much a of the city and learned so much. Ben has so much knowledge of the city and gave us plenty of recommendations for outside of the tour. Do keep in mind if you do the combo tour it is ~4 hours of walking, so dress comfortably, but totally worth it!
Response from the operator: Thank you, Adele! We’re so glad you enjoyed the Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome’s Dark Side Ghost Tour. It can be a long walk, but then so is most worthwhile suffering. We’re delighted Ben could make those four hours feel worth it with plenty of history, a solid stretch of the city, and a few recommendations for after the tour. Rome does reward comfortable shoes, and a mild tolerance for bones, ghosts, and historical bad behaviour.

Loved it! In all it’s horrible character
Ariel was a true delight as a guide for our catacombs tour. Knowledgeable and plenty of anecdotes! She is worth taking the tour all over again. Ben led our tour of ghosts and horribleness. A great wit, and much information about the evils of men in Ancient Rome.
Response from the operator: “Horrible character” is very much a compliment around here. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the combo - from the unsettling beauty of the crypts to Rome’s less saintly stories above ground. Arielle and Ben will be delighted to hear they left such an impression!

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does COMBO: Rome's Capuchin Crypts Tour & Rome's Dark Side Ghost Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
