Good and easy, but if I had to do it again, I would choose a tour guide (with an in-person guide).

We easily received the tickets via WhatsApp, and there was no problem downloading the audio guide. Quick response from the agency when we requested an additional code for the download. However, the audio guide is not great: 4-5 audios per floor, but they are not linked to a specific point, rather general information, interesting but it would have been better to have detailed content related to what we see. No audio guide for the Forum or Palatine, and it is difficult to understand what is what. We chose the Arena, which offers a good viewpoint and less crowd, but it is not essential. If I had to do it again, I would take an in-person guide. But no issues with the experience.

    We visited the Coliseum with...

We visited the Coliseum, with Arena, the Roman Forum and the Palatino. It was an amazing experience, however, we found that the indications in the spaces were not clear, which made us walk a little around. Our group was 7 elements, we bought the tickets with audio guide, but only 3 of us managed to access the application and did not answer us to help us solve the problem. Given the price of the ticket, which performed this function, we were disappointed in this situation.

Response from the operator: Obrigado pelo seu feedback!

    Bad experience

Got there at 11 for tickets booked at 11:30 as instructed. Three very stressed tour operators. Passed from one to another then another to then be told they don’t have our tickets, this option is not something that they offer and it must have been an error on the website. Issued a full refund but this is besides the point. The only thing they could offer us was an hour long tour of the outside then we could visit the free areas ourselves although this would cost us €40 each. We left it and then queued for over 3 hours to get tickets on site. Had we known they did not have our tickets we could’ve got there earlier and got in earlier as we weren’t able to actually enter the colosseum until 5:15 . I had had emails on previous days from viator about my ‘upcoming trip’ so no signs of anything being wrong prior. Just not what you want to happen one your once in a lifetime trip!

Response from the operator: Dear guest, We sincerely regret that your experience did not meet expectations. Regarding the tickets, the Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App option you booked was affected by a system error, which is why our team could not provide the tickets on-site. A full refund was issued as soon as this was identified. Our staff offered the alternative of the external guided tour and assistance to access the available areas, in line with the tour policies. Unfortunately, waiting times at the ticket office can be long during busy periods in Rome, and these are beyond our control. We understand how frustrating this must have been, especially for a special trip, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused. Kind regards,

    Disappointed.

With the maps everything worked fine, but we could not use the audio guide , which was included in the price. The username and password that were forwarded to us were invalid. When we asked for help, no one answered us. It's a shame, because we really wanted to hear interesting information and we really hoped for it. Disappointed.

    It’s a beautiful building...

It’s a beautiful building with a lot of history. The app was very helpful for the points of information to understand a history and the process of the Colosseum. The downside is knowing when to go. Going in the summer at peak season you encounter massive crowds and hot and humid temperatures.

Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App cost?

    +

Prices start at $62 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App take?

    +

Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 42 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 24-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Colosseum with Arena Floor and Ancient Rome with Audio App start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

    +

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

    +

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
