DO NOT USE

Do not use this company. I booked a tour for me and my husband on our honeymoon over one month in advance. This tour was booked for our last day in Rome and I booked through Get your Guide. I booked and completed all of the documents correctly and I paid £240 for the full private tour of all three areas. When we arrived at the meeting point we were told our name was not on the client list despite me having provided proper tickets and barcodes which were all legitimate, receipts, payment emails and passport information. The tour guide, who I may add has nothing to do with the booking process which is run by Silvia, phoned to try and amend this. I spoke with her myself and we were told that she had ‘missed our booking and sometimes this happens and there’s nothing they can do’. Fortunately Get your Guide requested a refund for me because I had booked through them but she couldn’t have been less interested in the fact that I was very annoyed and upset by this considering this was the thing we had splurged on to be told we couldn’t go due to their error, despite the fact some people hadn’t even turned up for the tour and there were two spaces! I was told to ‘join the queue and hope for the best in getting a basic ticket’. Really poor. Do not recommend.

Response from the operator: We sincerely apologize that your booking was not correctly processed. Unfortunately, Colosseum tickets are nominative, so unused places cannot be reassigned at the meeting point, even when other guests do not attend. We understand how disappointing this was, especially on your honeymoon, and your booking was fully refunded through GetYourGuide.

Sadness and disappointment

We did not have an experience. We received confirmation earlier that we had tickets. We were not notified that our tickets were cancelled until we actually got to the Coliseum. Traveling all the way to Rome and this was the one thing we wanted to see. I thought Viator was a reputable company. To cancel and not let us know was inexcusable.

Response from the operator: We are truly sorry for the disappointment, especially as visiting the Colosseum was an important part of your trip. Unfortunately, the cancellation was caused by an unexpected ticketing issue beyond our control. We regret that the notification did not reach you before your arrival and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Terrible tour company, mismanaged tour operator; Avoid at any cost !

Firstly the guide we had was pretty average. Even a free walking tour guide gave us much more stories and knowledge about Rome and its understandable because our guide was handed over our Tour just last minute. Hence all responsibility lies with this tour company on how mismanaged and untruthful they are with their customers. To start, the company’s management and professionalism are extremely disappointing. I specifically booked and paid almost double price for a 9:30 AM slot because I had a flight later that day and limited time in Rome. Within 12 hours of booking, the company unilaterally changed my tour to 1:00 PM — with no explanation. When I informed them about my time constraints, they did not respond properly and simply stated the slot was now fixed at 1:00 PM. If a morning tour was not available, it should not have been listed on GetyourGuide. Changing the time after payment is misleading and completely unfair to travellers who plan carefully. When I contacted GetYourGuide support, I was informed that the company had not even properly communicated the schedule change to them and did not respond to their follow-ups either. Since this was a last-minute booking, I could not cancel and arrange an alternative. While the guides may be good/average the company’s coordination and customer service are unreliable. I would rather recommend to book a free walking tour instead of this unprofessional tour company. Stay away from this tour company as much as possible.

Response from the operator: This is a false review. We don't offer the COLOSSEUM REGULAR GUIDED TOUR. Our products are UNDERGROUND AND ARENA FLOOR. Please, address this review to the right company

Imperial Forums and Colosseum

A fantastic visit, well organized and attention to detail. They care a lot about punctuality and with good reason, the site in question is full of tourists and anticipating a little 'crowd was a winning move. The guide a very nice and professional girl, very prepared but also very good at making a visit long enough, never boring with simple and engaging language. It is the second visit I make with this organization and again I congratulate them, they are really good.

Interesting visit!

Everything was well organized, the prepared guide made many references to the rest of the world not only to ancient Rome! It was not a specific visit for children but they too were able to follow and take an interest without problems. The view of the Colosseum from above was priceless!

Response from the operator: Grazie mille per la vostra splendida recensione!

Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill cost?

+

Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill take?

+

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 29 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill?

+

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Colosseum Guided Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

+

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

+

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
