Tours of Rome. Complete rip off
Awful. Totally been ripped off. I was paying for a tour. I paid for beat the queue and going underground. But apparently I was mistaken! However I wasn't the only person who thought that too. So how can other people have that same expectation? A few days before the tour It was cancelled, but amended if I wanted to keep it. It soon became apparent why they did that. They cancel it because they know you can't get another tour so quickly, every thing is booked. So you are forced to keep it, let's be honest the tour is a huge reason people go to Rome. What l actually got:- A normal ticket, not a tour ticket. A 29 Euro ticket. There's no queue because they take you in late so no one is queuing. It's not the tour ticket entrance but the normal entrance that people who don't book tours go in. You are told to download an app on your phone, one that you get free anyway. No headset, No guide. No underground. No tour entrance, No beat the queue because there's no one queuing. That's why they cancelled the 8.30 tour l had originally booked and make it a 3 pm tour, they know no one will be queuing then. You don't realise until you get there and then you understand that you could have done that yourself. They are taking advantage of people who don't understand the system, they know that you want to see the collosuim and they know you won't get another tour, they know the queue will be gone. We, the customer doesn't understand that you can get normal tickets at that time. Id taken my son and grandson to Rome for a treat. I'm really angry about this. I was robbed of an experience that should have been amazing. To be fair The staff are really good but they are just doing as they are told. But if you read the booking, what you think you paid for and what you get are different. The WhatsApp messages have been deleted so there's no real trace. It's clever but believe me you don't get what you THINK you paid for.
Response from the operator: Dear Valued Customer, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are truly sorry to hear how disappointed and frustrated you felt after your experience. We completely understand how important this visit was for you and your family, especially when traveling to Rome with the expectation of enjoying a special Colosseum underground tour together. We regret that the last-minute schedule change and the modified experience did not meet the expectations created at the time of booking. Unfortunately, access to underground areas and guided tour availability can sometimes change due to restrictions imposed by the Colosseum authorities or operational limitations beyond our direct control. However, we sincerely apologize if the alternative offered was not communicated clearly enough and if you felt pressured into accepting an experience that differed from what you originally booked. We also understand your frustration regarding the timing of the new entry slot and the perception that the service provided did not reflect the value paid. Your comments regarding transparency, communication, and guest expectations are extremely important to us, and we will carefully review them internally. At the same time, we appreciate your recognition of our staff members on site, who always aim to assist guests as best as possible under difficult circumstances. We would genuinely like the opportunity to review your case in detail. Please contact us directly at tous@toursofrome.info with your booking information so we can investigate further and assist you personally. Kind regards, The Tours of Rome Team

Dissatisfaction
We were not able to go due to leaving cellphone in taxi and returned to us after tour started. I tried to cancel, but was not able to get refund or rebooking. Disappointed
Response from the operator: I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with the tour. It sounds frustrating that you weren't able to go because of leaving your cellphone in the taxi and that it was returned to you after the tour had started. It's understandable that you tried to cancel, but it's unfortunate that you weren't able to get a refund or rebooking. It's disappointing when things don't go as planned, especially when it's something you were looking forward to. I hope that in the future you'll have better luck and have more enjoyable experiences.

Amazing
This was a really amazing experience and one not to be missed, the forum ….etc was very thought provoking and highlighted the Power and Wealth of the Roman Empire over its many centuries of rule over a vast area of the globe. Many Triumphs demonstrated by the many Arches ….. so many people from different nations killed…! All coming to a climax at the Colosseum that was built by the Jews following the sacking of Jerusalem by Titus who brought back over 30,000 Jews as slaves to built it. Over the centuries over 1 million lost their lives in it….. all in the name of Rome!!. The guide we had was really brilliant, so knowledgeable!!
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank You for your feedback, we appreciate your time to write your review. Best wishes

Why this scores 47
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Colosseum Group Tour with Roman Forum and Palatine Hill start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
