Rubbish audio tour- offered as an alternative to unwel tour guide - waste of time
Was offered 3 days before the trip to swap for a later time due to a poorly tour guide. This time didn’t work due to our evening flight home. Therefore was offered the audio tour, a self tour led by an app off your phone. Was totally rubbish and I should have been given money off what I paid for a proper guided tour. 4 short and useless clips briefly explaining in the colloseum. Building was so poorly sign posted so was impossible to find way to the Roman sites and palatine hill - the people at the venue were useless too. Providing an overall RUBBISH tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. We would like to clarify that the Colosseum itself is not managed by our agency, and unfortunately we have no control over its internal organization, signage, or on-site staff. Despite our best efforts, the Colosseum management often changes entry procedures and rules, which can sometimes impact the overall visitor experience. Regarding the change offered prior to your tour, we did our best to provide an alternative solution when the original guide was unavailable. We understand that the audio tour did not meet your expectations, and we regret that this option was not satisfactory for you. Your feedback is very important to us, and we will take it into account to continue improving our services.

This tour did not allow...
This tour did not allow access to the lower level (coliseum floor) but view is actually better from above so I don’t think it’s necessary.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback! We would like to clarify that access to the Colosseum lower level (underground) was not included in the tour you selected, as clearly stated in the tour description. We’re glad to hear that you still enjoyed the views from above, and we hope to welcome you again on another experience — perhaps including the underground next time!

Alissia was great!
Alissia has terrific. She was interesting, personal and fun to be with. She was also concise and thorough in her historical information. She had many 2-D references that helped with understanding of the making and use of the colosseum. Our entire family enjoyed it.
Response from the operator: It's great to know that you found Alissia interesting, personal, and fun! We're also pleased you appreciated her concise yet thorough historical information and the visual aids she used.

Great tour of the colosseum. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We wish we could have stayed longer but we had another commitment .

I got there late and I...
I got there late and I was not able to locate my your guide. So we had to do the whole tour ourselves and did not learn anything. It makes no sense that we cannot meet with our tour guide because we are late
Response from the operator: Dear Client, We are very sorry you had problems finding the meeting point. Our staff at the Meet&Greet always call, at the phone numbers left at the moment of the booking, all clients who only showed up before the tours start. We understand that it could be challenging for foreigners to find a meeting point in a new city where most people speak a different language. All other customers saw the meeting point, and the tour left regularly. Our phone number is at H24, seven days a week, and we chat on VIATOR. Unfortunately, the problem you had with reaching the meeting point in time is not under our control or responsibility, including concerning the method our guests chose to get to the meeting point. We are one of the very few agencies with a meeting point far from the crowd and very close to the Colosseum entrance, and as a result, we can hold no responsibility for your late arrival, as this is very clear from the moment of booking. We want to remind you that tickets are dated, timed, named, and not refundable; for this reason, we cannot wait for those who arrive late. The Voucher indicates that all clients must be at the meeting point at least 15/20 minutes before the starting time. In your case, you arrived 10 minutes later than the starting time when the group was already inside the Colosseum. While we do have to skip the line access, every patron still needs to go through the security checkpoint set by the venue. Again, we are very sorry that this tour did not meet your expectations. We always welcome feedback from our customers, as this will allow us to keep improving our services. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us a review. Stefano

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.
How much does Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.
Is Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 1,010 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 168 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included?
+
Around 354 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Colosseum Express Guided Tour & Ancient Rome Entry Pass included start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rome?
+
Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rome?
+
April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rome?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
