    Romania, "Why not"

This trip was designed to show the best of Romania that one could see in the allotted time frame and it did. From castles, churches and countryside, it did not disappoint. My husband and I have been traveling Europe together since 1981 and this trip was wonderful in our books. Mihai Nicolae, our tour guide, is knowledgeable and passionate about his country. He knows people in tourist areas, and they know him. Since I had checked a bag, I was concerned about changing accommodations every day. Mihai made it easy by taking my bag to the accommodations every evening and picking it up when he picked us up. He was gracious enough to share meals with us so we really got to know about the local foods. Mihai shared his favorite restaurants with us and the meals were very delicious. Mkihai was also very punctual. When he stated a time he would be meet us, he ALWAYS met us. He soon learned that we liked to engage with the locals and gave us opportunities to speak to Romanians. Mikhai's command of the English language was superb too. Romania is very affordable and safe. The people are extremely friendly and want to show outsiders the best their communities have to offer. I will smile for a long time when I think of Romania.

Response from the operator: It means a great deal to know that, after so many years of travelling together across Europe, Romania left such a wonderful impression on both of you. We are especially happy to hear how much Mihai contributed to your experience. His knowledge, passion, punctuality, and genuine care for our guests are qualities we value deeply. From helping with your luggage each day to sharing local meals, recommending restaurants, and creating opportunities to connect with local people, it sounds like he helped make the journey feel both seamless and personal. We are also delighted that the itinerary gave you such a varied introduction to Romania, from castles and churches to countryside and local communities. Thank you again for your kind words about Mihai, our country, and the people you met along the way. We will be very happy to share your feedback with him, and we hope the memories of Romania continue to bring you many smiles for years to come.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bucharest.

How much does Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures cost?

    +

Prices start at $1450 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bucharest usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures take?

    +

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bucharest is not rushed.

Is Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Bucharest, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bucharest can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bucharest and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Classic Romania Tour - small group in 8 days: Transylvania and Maramures start and how do I get there?

    +

What are the best things to do in Bucharest?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bucharest experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Real tour of Communism, Bucharest Highlights Walking Tour, Top Gear Road, Small-group max 7 pax with Pick-up, Transfăgărăşan. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bucharest?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bucharest?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
