1. Zocalo

   The Plaza de la Constitución, informally known as the Zócalo, is the main square of Mexico City. Together with the surrounding streets, it occupies a nearly rectangular area of ​​approximately 46,800 m² (195 m × 240 m). It was named after the Constitution of Cádiz promulgated in 1812. This is the second largest square in the world after Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China and the largest among Spanish-speaking countries.

2. Catedral Metropolitana de la Ciudad de Mexico

   The Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the most important temples in America, its majestic proportions make it a masterpiece. It frames the north side of the Zócalo Capitalino and is the most representative monument of the Historic Center of Mexico City. The long construction from 1573 to 1813 is a compendium of architectural styles that successively predominated in the New Spain era.

3. Francisco I. Madero Avenue

   This street served as an entrance corridor in historical events such as when the Trigarante Army triumphantly entered Mexico City, ending the War of Independence. Today it is a pedestrian corridor where you can admire the architecture of the buildings that surround it, find street artists who delight with their acts, as well as a great variety of shops and restaurants. It is located in the first square of the City and is one of the most emblematic. Historically this street of great importance has had different names, at first it was 1a. Calle de San Francisco, La Profesa and Plateros, however in 1914 Francisco Villa named it Calle Francisco I. Madero.

4. Palacio de Bellas Artes

   Built in the 1930s, this majestic building is renowned for its impressive Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture, as well as its interior decorated with works by important Mexican artists. The Palacio de Bellas Artes Museum houses an impressive collection of murals by some of the most prominent Mexican muralists of the 20th century, such as Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco. These works of art are important for their historical and cultural value, as they reflect the identity and social struggle of Mexico during the first half of the 20th century.

5. “The opening of the new Post Office is an event of great significance for our country; the mere fact of erecting a building of such magnitude proves that Mexico is increasingly entering the course of civilization in a more active manner.” The Postal Palace, in a display of eclecticism, brings together different stylistic currents such as Gothic, Plateresque, Art Nouveau, and Mudejar, among others. All very well executed by Adamo Boari and Gonzalo Garita. Within all the ornamentation that is displayed in this building, there are elements that cannot go unnoticed. On the corner formed by Eje Central and Tacuba streets, once considered the zero point of Mexico City, stands one of the most emblematic historical buildings for its aesthetics and architectural richness, the Quinta Casa de Correos, better known as the Postal Palace.

6. You will discover gems of Mexican muralism, an artistic movement that emerged after the Mexican Revolution. These murals refer to themes such as revolutionary values ​​and class struggle. It was José Vasconcelos, Secretary of Public Education during the government of Álvaro Obregón, who promoted a new cultural and educational project and with it also the muralist movement. Dare to discover works by Mexican muralists Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Clemente Orozco and Manuel Rodríguez Lozano in the Historic Center.

7. House of Tiles

   The Casa de los Azulejos or the House of the Count of the Orizaba Valley, is one of the most emblematic buildings in downtown Mexico City. In pre-pandemic times, it received hundreds of visitors every day, who did not miss the opportunity to take a photo or eat at its famous restaurant. The history of the Casa de los Azulejos begins in 1524 when Hernán Cortés granted part of the land to Antonio Burgueño. However, the property occupied by the house would be acquired after Doña Graciana Suárez Peredo, a woman of enormous wealth, and Don Luis de Vivero, from one of the richest families during the Viceroyalty, owner of the County of the Orizaba Valley, were married. Although it would not be until years later that the construction we know today would begin.
